Don't be concerned about the location. This little gem is located in a strip mall on Victoria Park just north of Dawes. For years we had driven past but we were unsure of the location. Today we tried it and wish we hadn't judged it by the exterior. Wonderful little place for a great breakfast!! Poached eggs cooked to perfection, proper home style pototoes, bacon prepared properly. We went at noon and the place was packed. Very clean and super friendly, neighborly style service. We will definitely return. Super large breakfast and very inexpensive.
This is the restaurant where they know your name and what you like. The staff are down home, friendly and make you feel wanted. The fair is family style dining with large portions and basic offerings. Food comes hot. Decor has been remodeled but could have used a better trained eye. It is a big step forward from the previous decor. No one seems to care. They go there for the food and service from the staff. You just can't beat the friendly ambiance and home cooked food.
This is a hot spot in East York on Victoria Park Ave. south of St. Clair Ave. especially for Saturday/Sunday breakfast. Try the peameal sandwich with four thick slices of peameal, better than anything you get at the St. Lawrence market. The banquet burger, I would rate as one of the best in the City. Generous portions and prices are reasonable. Give it a try you won't be disappointed. Washrooms are not HC accessible, credit and debit accepted
new management is trying hard to keep up food quality and reputation. A few areas need attention. Gravy not mixed properly way too salty, soup is kind of thin lately, and service needs a bit more attention. One person doesn't have to be at the front guarding the till all of the time>>>help servers. I generally get into Toronto 4-5 times a year and try to make a point of having breakfast with old friends at this restaurant. A great family style restaurant with friendly staff & great helpings. I always get the peameal because of portion & taste. A must for me. A bit dated & the washroom is "way" downstairs but that doesn't take away from the enjoyment I get from going there.
On Victoria park south of St. Clair west side. Good food, quantities and very reasonable prices in this strip plaza. A great place, if you can get by one syrupy waitress with the love , honey, dear, even darling salutations. ( she makes me sick she's so phoney lol!) However if you can get by this it's a great place to eat.
