We called in to Riddles on Saturday 22.05.2021 after an evening meal in Lymm to round off our daughter's birthday celebrations and, from the initial table reservation through to the fantastic cocktails, it was a great experience Making the reservation was easy using the company's website and we received a warm welcome on arrival, were shown to our reserved table (a cosy alcove close to the main bar) and, within minutes, the waitress took our order, a couple of alcohol free cocktails, a really strong bourbon based drink and a Welsh beer all of which arrived very shortly afterwards The ambient atmosphere at Riddles is really cool, a trendy place to hang out that wasn't too crowded for a Saturd...
Came in on Saturday bank holiday asking if there was any mocktails (pregnant woman here really missing my alcohol Lovely manager named Beth showed me the mocktails but added if there was anything not on there that I fancied she liked a challenge. Now I am a big whiskey drinker and love dry drinks, not a sweet fan. So when I was looking at the mocktails and she advised me she could make me a drink like a whiskey sours I was sold. From the time we walked in, to receiving two cocktails 30 minutes had gone by. Two of the staff were too busy talking to their friends, one of which was another member of staff, who was sat at the bar drinking. The second our cocktails finally arrived, they turned the lights on and turned the music off, thus destroying any atmosphere, and began drinking with two people sat at the bar. Not to mention the cocktails we ordered were undrinkable and horrendously cheap, despite them taking over half an hour to arrive, and having coughed up £19.50 for two drinks. Me and the girlfriend are regularly visiting Altrincham and always find it to be a bit of delightful adventure. Whenever we are there we always check into the Con Club and the Belgian Bar. However after having a bimble round we happened across the Riddles Bar. It was fantastic, fabulous and funkadelic!.. The thing I don't understand is how in the past excursions to Altrincham we have missed it!! What a beautiful place with a cool vibe and I further know that we will visit there again. We stumbled upon it quite by accident escaping a rowdy bar next door.It has lovely atmosphere and it was perfect for getting together with a few friends for a catch up.The decor was inviting and the lighting was perfect. The choice of music was outstanding- they were playing jazz and the volume was perfect as you didn't have to shout to have a conversation which is something that us nearly impossible to find nowadays in Manchester on a Saturday night. The bar staff were really friendly and provided excellent service. We will definitely be back again!
My friend and I booked a table on Saturday at 5.30 so glad we did, as we saw lots of people turned away. We were sat at the front by the door, and not sure if it was due to our out of the way location, but we found it hard to get service would suggest that wait staff come and check up that end more regularly. This was the only negative though very cool decor and lovely drinks; the pornstar martini in particular was lovely. Will be back!
There are three bars we visit when in Altrincham, The Con Club, The Belgian Bar and Riddles. All three are fabulous but Riddles is a lovely place to just finish off the night. Lovely warm feel to the place and lovely staff who inherently look after us. Some of the cocktails are quite delicious too. I say some cocktails because I haven't tried all of the delicious sounding cocktails yet but rest assured I will! Heh.
I came by as I was travelling through altringham. Was met with social distancing rules but that did not stop the bartender (Cameron) from being polite, attentive and friendly. Recommended an off menu cocktail (aviation) which I adored. Will definately be back if Im. In the area again. Réservez une table maintenant
