The negative: We were a party of 12, 6 adults, 6 kids ages, 9-11. I had read rave reviews about this place online and knew we needed to check it out. First off, don't bring kids....Not that they frown on bringing kids, but the dinner menu is not conducive to children. Perhaps you have children that have refined palate for foie gras and tartare, we do not...There is no children's menu here. Also, the adults dressed up a bit, but we had no dress clothes for the kids since our time in Banff was spent hiking, so they just looked out of place in their under armour sports clothes. I don't think anyone cared but me, so no biggie, none of this is a poor reflection on the restaurant, just an observat...

My wife and I love dining out and we tried a new restaurant every night while vacationing on our anniversary. We ate at Eden, a very fancy dining experience at the Rim Rock hotel in Banff, and we enjoyed our dinner at Trough more than Eden! At Trough, the mussel and bruschetta appetizers were both delicious, and the cioppino and arctic char entrees were fabulous. The chocolate mousse and sticky toffee pudding were wonderful sweets to follow a fantastic dinner. Service was excellent in spite of a minor miscommunication between servers in the beginning, and Richard (owner) was very personable when he visited our table several times, even taking our orders because an unexpected wedding party te...

We booked here via email and the communication was great. Meeted and greeted by the owners daughter ( sorry didn't catch your name ), who was fantastic. We had 3 courses plus two bottles of wine and all the food was excellent. Fine dining limited menu ( 5 starters and mains plus specials ) to choose from but it was one of the best meals I have had for a long time. The price reflected the quality of service and food but we were happy to pay as it was so good. Definitely a place to go for a special occasion or treat. If we come back to Canmore we would come back here. Excellent!!!!

The food is great, the service is efficient and professional yet still friendly, the drinks are delicious. The interior looks beautiful. What made it all the more special was sitting out on the patio where we could watch the world go by. There are overhead lamps, when that becomes necessary, and I overheard that there are even blankets which sounds comfy and cozy. But that's all extra - go for the food! Réservez une table maintenant

We were 2 couples. The restaurant is a favourite haunt of our friends who accompanied us and is family run. We were made to feel most welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. There was a good choice of courses which were expertly prepared and well presented. This restaurant is well worth a visit.

Zonder reservering gedineerd. Bediening goed, vriendelijk en zelfs humoristisch. Het eten verrukkelijk !!! Het beste eten in onze 3 weken vakantie in Canada. De sirloin steak was af !!!De pan smeared arctic char fantastisch en de mokka chocolademousse hemels. Helemaal top. Echt verdiend

Wow! Everything was spectacular, including the service. We chose to celebrate our anniversary here and had no regrets. The chef outdid himself and truly made for a memorable dining experience. Thank You!
