"Since a family celebration and a class meeting occurred, after a long abstinence I was once again in my old home in the Swabian Forest. As part of the class meeting we were at the Murrhadter Traditions Gasthof Engel for lunch. The angel is the oldest restaurant Murrhardts and was always worth a return from my memory. Recently, the owner Family Bunk, as I learned from the newspaper, has leased the restaurant for age reasons. So a good occasion to see if the angel under the new host Klaus Berger can connect to the old tradition. The restaurant is located in a beautiful half-timbered house, right on the market square. When entering the inn you first land in a small hall area. The guest room is left through a door. On the right it goes to the kitchen or to a small space for events. At first glance, the guest room seems quite small, but it changes when you get into another room through a small door. There were also the reserved places for my former fellow students and me. In the end, a lot has not changed since my last visit, which is roughly estimated 15 20 years ago. A slightly dusty (in the sense of the transfer, but very cozy ambience with many pictures by the local artist Reinhold Nägele on the walls. So, as far as it is already very positive, although I might have expected some innovations from a new host. This would certainly have been possible without changing the basic imprint of this old-aged house. Unfortunately, the positive trend in the following did not complete. On our arrival (a few former students were already there, unfortunately, there was no welcome and no information where the places reserved for us are. However, we were able to find out the latter through the already occupied places. As it turned out, there were 2 services that were on our way at this lunch, as well as 2 other groups and the “normal” guests. Unfortunately, the services were somewhat overwhelmed. When we finally took place, the menus were handed over to us in the form of a simple yellow Din A4 sheet. Among other things, there were melted maubags with salad, rust roasts with late zle, salad plate with turkey strips and other classics of the well-bourgeois Swabian cuisine. Our drinks were also requested together with the menu. Since there was no drink card I ordered a soft wheat (2.90 €) on good luck. Unfortunately, the service then seemed to sink in the chaos below. The drinks for our table (4 people came in 3 stages, with the two non-alcoholic wheat still having to be brewed. Finally we were allowed to order the food. Since I was still invited to a larger family party in the afternoon and evening, I left the rust roast and decided to buy the melted mau bags with salad (€8.90). These were ordered 2 more times at our table, as well as a rust roasted roasted potatoes instead of the late zle indicated as standard on the map. Unlike the drinks, the dishes were served relatively fast and almost the same. First the supplements salads. Where no one was clear at the table, in which the difference between the salad and the rust roast and those to the mouth pockets existed. Optically these were identical, but the operation insisted that the first one that was brought was just the one to the rust roast. The salad was Swabian inn. Leaf salads, a little potato salad and a few more “reibesalates” (carrot, herb,... . Not bad, but also no boar. The other food was then brought to the table quite quickly. Only the roasted potatoes to the rust roast were forgotten. Instead, the late zle actually provided according to the map were served. Although the operation immediately offered to order roast potatoes, it was suggested that this would take a little time. Thus, the decision was made in favour of the late lent. In the course of the meal, the operation then carried out a small bowl of roasted potatoes, which were also welcomed. For dinner, I can only say something to the muzzles from personal experience. The two jaw pockets on the plate were actually homemade (at least not the typical mass goods, with very good dough filling ratio and decent size. There were a few melted (lightly browned onions in butter and a slightly sweet decoration from a slice of carrot and a salad leaf. Unfortunately, only the onions, but not the mules themselves were melted. I was really happy about that. The mouthbags were really good. The dough was easy to bite (not sloppy, as often with homemade mules, the filling had a good consistency and everything in all, the mules tasted very good to me (small note for my mother-in-law: Yours are better. The rust roast at our table was also fried as desired medium and tasted the notes good. The payment was a bit more difficult. I had to go a bit earlier (family party and therefore went to the safe, as the service has not been with us for some time. The man who worked there (I suppose the boss told me about the service, but that was just at the company in the side room. The other service, which came shortly after, also referred me to her colleague, so I had to wait a few more time until I finally had to pay my bill. Service Yes, we were certainly not the easiest group to wish for a restaurant (something too late, then not all at the same time, ... Nevertheless, a nice welcome, a little more coordination at the service and, in particular, maybe 1 2 extra assist forces in order to cope with the rush of several groups at the same time would have quickly meant 2 stars more here. Thus, despite friendliness and reproached roast potatoes, it is only enough for 2 stars. The food short I was trying to forgive 4 stars because of the really good mouthbags. The boring salad and the fact that only the onions, but not the mouthpieces themselves were melted, reduce the whole easily to 3.5 stars. At the ambience I let myself be guided by my personal memories. 4 stars (5 would have been if the new host had brought a little fresh wind in price performance: You really can't complain here. Especially the wheat under 3, I had long no more 4.5 star cleanliness Everything was top clean 5 stars Conclusion: Passables Essen, which unfortunately did not suit my memory of the previous quality under Wolfgang Bunk. The service was always friendly and endeavored, but unfortunately the rush of the groups to be serviced did not grow in any way. If I'm in the area the next time, maybe I'll take another picture as a “normal guest”. It's probably worth a try."
