As the name suggests, the emphasis is on meats grilled on the rotisserie; done simply but done well (there are other options). The setting is (still) 'colourful rustic' and the service genuine and friendly.

This is one of the best meals we ever had. I had squid to start, then followed by cod and then came the dessert - my god what a dessert, 7 different types of pudding, all thought through ie sweet puddings with pots of stewed fruit, so as to taste all textures and flavours - not too sweet and with some tartness. All beautifully presented. I also loved the surroundings, very understated. But I was truly in awe of the staff, just one cook and one waiter (perhaps there was a pot cleaner behind the scenes, but could not see one). And just these people managed the whole of the restaurant calmly, no dramatic histrionics a la Gordon R, just very professional and efficient. If you are going to Bayonne -do not miss this jewel.

Not much to add. Chippirons as they should be done: on the plancha with tender olive oil. Then the pigeon: all of it cut with thourough knowledge of the pigeon anatomy .together with the local white wine it came close to perfect.

This restaurant is set in a small side street a block or two from the river. It has both inside and outside seating. We elected to sit outside and that was a good choice. Our reservation was for 9 pm and we were the first to be seated. Eventually all the outside tables were filled. The owner is the server and his only employee is the chef. We were doing a home exchange in a nearby community and our host suggested this restaurant and made the reservation. We were joined by a couple from Normandy with whom we did an exchange 10 years earlier. We were all very pleased with both the ambience and the food. I had lamb chops that were excellent. My lady friend had foie gras and I had a taste. Maybe the best I have ever had! Everyone was please with the main entre. It was a fixed price dinner (38 Euros) so we had dessert. A nice tray arrived with a variety of dessert including a small baked Alaska that was shared by all. There were seven of us an the dessert tray had 7 little cups of chocolate. Our group of three concluded after three weeks in France and Spain that this was by far the best restaurant. Thanks Francious (our exchange host).

Essentially a menu with several choices for each course and a set price in total depending on whether you choose two or three courses. This is rapidly becoming a standard system. A fairly short menu, but every selection that we tried was both well cooked and presented and quite copious. One or two delightful touches from the chef. A little formal for a rotisserie but quite acceptable. Not anywhere near the lower end of the price bracket though

You need to be a carnivore to enjoy this temple to the art of the roast and shrine to the foie gras ( fait maison). The helpings are large and beautifully presented. We had starters of foie gras and lamb sweetbreads with girolles. Both excellent . Then cote de veau roti and beef fillet with cooked foie gras served with peas in a casserole of lardons and juice . We couldn't manage dessert but it looked very good. Price was 38€ each including an offered aperitif and pate. Great food and very good value .

My wife and I recently stayed in Bayonne en route to the Algarve. We loved the city (and will definitely be coming back for a longer visit) and our visit to this restaurant was the perfect way to round off a highly enjoyable day. The décor is rustic but smart and, together with the friendly and helpful service, created a fine ambience. We were made to feel thoroughly at home and I felt very comfortable practising my (strictly intermediate) French with the owner. The food was beautifully presented and the meat in particular - we chose beef and lamb - was simply superb. An excellent bottle of red wine from Biarritz, recommended by the owner, washed everything down in fine style. Highly recommended.
