We made the mistake of ordering a set menu of salad, main and desert. The waitress couldn't explain what the meal was in English! She brought everyrhing at once! Gave us crisps instead of bread and overcharged us for the wine! She tried to clear my plate without asking if I was finished eating! Don't go!
We have passed the place, the whole family, we asked the waitress to allow our daughter to use the toilet she refused. Than she asked for 2 EUR and at the end came some guy and say that the toilet is closed and is dirty and so on. I just said thank you very much and we left. Dear friends from TripAdvisor let's show that what happens with the restaurant which is not pleasant and friendly. Do not come in, if I can ask you for! Very disappointed farther.
Given the location in a lovely square, the prices of food and drink here are extremely reasonable. At lunchtime I had 'une petite' platter of charcuterie, cheese and bread for just 7 euros, and very nice it was. When it was served, my first thought was that I had wrongly been given 'une grande' platter, but not so. Friendly and efficient service also.
We were ignorant of not making dinner reservations in Bordeaux. Seatings are very limited. This place has decent outdoor service and seating when you are hungry and the above occurred. We both had steak and frites and a bottle of wine. All were ok. Research restaurants and call in advance when traveling to Bordeaux!
Came across this restaurant wandering through side streets and pleasantly surprised - has the fois gras with red onion as starter which was extremely tasty - followed by Duck which was cooked to whatever way I wanted with nice crispy chips - altogether good value and served by pleasant staff - no hesitation in returning
The historic quarter of Bordeaux is beautiful. The Saint Pierre district is a hive of restaurants and bars serving food and drink all day and night. It is always difficult to find a seat at any place but we were lucky to find a few free here. Lucky? Spare seats for a reason more like. We sat outside overlooking the old square. Perfect location. We sat back and ordered our 2 small plates and nice cold gins. The food arrived and was ok, just. We never did get our gins. *TIP - if you really are going to try this place then take a table under the canopy and not in the sun as the pigeons nesting high above the restaurant tend to break off the dried bird droppings when landing and it falls down on to your table. Charming. I prefer a little pepper with dinner sometimes, not excrement. We asked for the bill quickly and mentioned the drinks that were charged even though they didn't arrive! No apology, no complimentary drink offered. Average food and below par service. Nothing more to say really.
