We have been recommended Camille's by a friend who happens to be a retired chef and his insisting on this place and the fresh cuisine by the young, inspired and gorgeous Camille made me curious. Even though we went there with probably not the best starting basis for eating out in France - we had limited time and I mentioned this while placing our order - the experience was nothing short of delightful! But first things first ...The restaurant is situated in a house just outside the city of Carpentras, surrounded by fields and vineyards. The interior and terrace are modern with a personal touch.A lunch menu with a choice of fish or meat is available for lunch at a moderate price (below 20 EUR for startet - main - dessert) but we went for à la carte options, all of which are equally available for lunch time. I chose Asparagus Cream as starter and Codfish as main whereas my companion went for a Mixed Salad, followed by Beef Shoulder. Based on our time constraints we skipped dessert and went through most of the menu with a pitcher of water - and a glass of white with the fish. The Asparagus Cream was a cool cream, topped with thin slices of fresh green asparagus, parma ham and Parmigiano cheese - a delicious, light yet mouthwatering combination, perfect for a lunch outside in the sun. The Mixed Salad was a choice of fresh spring greens, tossed over a cool ratatouille - light and tasty at the same time. The Codfish was cooked to perfection, flaky and still a translucent touch, served on spring vegetables (including my favorite fresh fava beans and tender artichokes) and a foamy saffron sauce. The braised Beef Shoulder was tender as anything and served along with roast potatoes, sautéed shallots and a rich, intense jus. The lovely staff did their best to allow us to finish in time and we are definitely looking forward to return on another occasion!
