Stopped in l'Emikal as other places were full - you walk through the crowded bar packed with French locals to get to the back - the outdoor area where we chose to sit was fine, albeit a little on the small side. Service on our visit was fast and friendly, but it seemed a little less efficient as the night progressed and the restaurant filled up, and we watched as some customers waited to be greeted before leaving as nobody came to present a menu! Food was average but decent, mussels were good value for money, but overall there is better cooking in the area and l'Emikal could try just a little harder.

We ate here on our last night staying in France and what a find!!! The staff were really friendly and persevered with my terrible French as we tried to decipher the menu! The food we ordered was all excellent, I finally decided to try the moules frites and regretted not trying them at the start of the holiday as they were delicious (although I did have to ask how to eat them!!!). The children's burgers were massive and a real hit with my girls! Would highly recommend and very reasonably priced if you go for the set menu's!

We visited several times during our week in Cherrueix.Very warm welcome from the owners who took over 18 months ago. Nice locals bar with small restaurant and sun terrace. A choice of set menu lunch, all day snacks and evening a la carte (closes at 8.00 pm if quiet, but will stay open later if people are dining). Excellent cooking - I had one of the best fish dishes (cabillaud) I have ever had in 40 years of visiting France. Lovely duck and steaks also. Not to be missed if you are in this area!
