On a sunny week day, we decide to walk to the center of town and eat there. We stoppped at Le Grenadin because of the lovely outdoor seating area. We order a beef carpaccio as appetizer (not bad but it was cut too thick,) i had grilled squid with rice (nothing memorable,) my wife a steak (pretty good) with a side of arguably the worst house fries i have eaten this millennium. As dessert we got cream brulee (coming straight out of the fridge.) Service was all right while the check (65 euros for the food and 1 bottle of san pellegrino) was way too much. I have eaten way better for less in other small town restaurant around toulouse
I have eaten twice in this restaurant in Grenade which is about 20 minutes drive from Toulouse airport. The restaurant is in the main square and have outside eating on the square overlooking the beautiful Halle. Best place for parking is in one of several (I recall at least 4 free parking areas within two minutes walk from the square and you should find a place without difficulty. I would not advise attempting to park in the square itself or on the roads leading to the square. The restaurant opens at 1930 in the evenings and between 1200-1400 during the week. Our last visit was on a Monday lunchtime and it was quite busy. They have set menus or you can order a la carte. The choice is good and they do a number of good size tasty salads. There is also a good choice of meat and fish selections. Desserts are good too and I enjoyed the tart tatin with ice cream and cream. Service is good and friendly and I enjoyed chatting with the guy that served us. I am not sure however, if they speak any English and the menu is also in French. They have reasonable wine selection including local wines. Overall a very pleasant dinning experience. As an aside if you are in the area on a Saturday, they have an excellent market in the square in the morning. Great food products to be had and was one of my favourites when I used to live in the area.
There are not a lot of restaurant options in Grenade. We went here because of the Tripadvisor reviews, and would love to rate it higher because overall we had a pleasant dinner with regards to very friendly service, nice wine and atmosphere. However, the food was a little disappointing across 3 courses - just not quite up to standard.
I went to Le Grenadin with a couple of friends for dinner and we had a wonderful meal. The food was excellent and the service was very good. Definitely a place I will go again. As with most places in France parking can be a challenge. The waitress spoke English and they take American credit cards. I recommend this to anyone wanting a very good traditional French meal.
On our trip through Europe we stranded in a little town called Grenade, close to Toulouse, We decided to stay in the neighborhood for a day instead of driving around. And I am glad we did, as it was we found the restaurant 'le Grenadin' on the market square for lunch. The staff was friendly and polite and spoke a bit of English. Such a relief from the rude and obnoxious waiters in Marseilles and Paris. The food was great and flavorful. No French fries or tourist grub. I had a Carpaccio and a nice home made chocolate mousse. My wife enjoyed a set dinner (Salad, turkey and apple pie) everything tasted good and was home made and fresh,. We decided to go back for dinner and we did not regret it, we both had an awesome seafood dish and a bottle of nice Bordeaux. Again, very flavorful, good and friendly service.
Une première pour moi au grenadin! Enthousiasmé à l idée d y aller manger depuis un petit moment, enfin j’y suis passé! Restaurant dans un cocoon, belle décoration! Le large sourire de Chrystelle à l accueil et son service impeccable a fait que j ai passé un bon moment! La cuisine de David sur le menu du jour est un régal! Cuisine élaborée tout en restant simple! Franchement très bon!! Du fait maison, ça fait plaisir! L équipe est motivée pour satisfaire ses clients! Je vous remercie pour ce moment! Hyper bien situé au centre de grenade en face des halles, très joli cadre! A très bientôt et encore merci!
