We were looking for a restaurant with a nice atmosphere and some traditional food. At first glance this place looked good. However our experience here was terrible. 13€ for the daily menu, already quite expensive for a midday meal. Eat as much as you can buffet, which consisted of industrially made choices, nothing home made or traditional.Main course was again lacking in fresh ingredients, everything out of a tin. Which amazed us after a 30 min wait for the main course (need to upgrade their microwave!)After we were charged 2€ for wasting food! One of our party tried and hated their carrots and consequently left them on the side of her plate. She didn't return to the buffet to take anything else! We also didn't take the drinks that were supposed to be in the menu, ( we all wanted water and were not even offered bottle mineral water instead of alcohol, just the carafe! Only people who drink alcohol could enjoy this menu)! disgusted that we were then asked to pay extra punishment fee. Oh did I mention the 20 minute wait for the drinks and the bread (we had to remind the waitress at least 3 times)We were made to feel uncomfortable with the stressed waitress and then told that we looked like we were in a rush, we just wanted to eat a nice meal as a family!The flies were the only happy customers, despite a few struggling to find their way out! Very disappointed! A tourist trap!
In the space of 2 weeks we visited this restaurant in the small picturesque village of Lestelle Betharram for lunch 3 times. The 13euro plat du jour can only be described as incredible value. a typical 4 courses including a glass of wine: soup of the day served from a large tureen left on the table with a basket of bread, starters a serve yourself buffet of cold meats, fish and salad, or a large pastrie filled with bacon and mushrooms, and today a croque monsieur, main course, meat or fish dishes with vegetables and finally a buffet sweet from the fridge. Linen napkins elegant table setting and a slow service make for a lovely lunch experience. Value 5 stars quality/service and environment 3 stars,
Just no-. I tell them the lady does not like sauvignon blanc in plain Frenc and they bring a glass of. sav blc- garbure is burnt and full of bones, no meat - salads average. Sauce looks weird, grey- mains. didn't taste fresh- dessert consisted of soggy creme brulee with no crust. The owner argued and refused any alternative dessert.There's got to be another place to spend your money.
