Still not made up my mind a week after a very pleasant overnight stop. The room was comfortable, clean with a good ensuite and air con. Surprisingly also had tea and coffee making facilities unusual for French hotel especially budget ones which this fell into but with a bit more personality than one of the chains. An evening meal in the hotel restaurant and patio area, also open to the public, ranged from 14.50e to 25e. The latter being 4 courses which included a delicious home-made terrine hep yourself from a bowl, and an enormous entrecôte perfectly cooked. A demi-pitcher of local rose was so good another turned up! All in all a good stop-over.

I never thought that this sort of place still existed. Family run; all home cooking; brilliant and friendly service and amazing rapport qualité-prix. Four of us had a three course lunch (plus an extra terrine course thrown in) including quarter of a litre of wine each and coffee for 75 euros.I cannot commend this place more. A Tuesday midday - it was heaving with people - there must have been 60.Go there while you can.

I was staying locally at Fontfroide Abbey and although this was 10 miles away it was worth it. I booked in for five evenings and to eat a four course meal with wine for 24 Euros was a find. Not only were portions generous but the quality and service were excellent. Compared with a local up market place I had visited another night, this was a place to return to.The service was friendly and the food in the best tradition of regional cooking. Helpings were of a decent size and this may be because the town hosts a rugby club which is celebrating its centenary! The local were friendly and it was clear that they came here in numbers and it did not depend on the tourist. The most delicious starter was the Millefleur of Chevre, as tower of chevre mousse with aubergines and tomato, and a salad dressed with walnuts and almonds. I chose this every time. The pate course was not unlike a Lincolnshire haslet in taste. Any meat was cooked over a wood fire and the steak served with artichoke, spaced apple and raisin, with a bubble and squeak type of potato, cabbage, bacon and herbs was wonderful. I would not normally have chosen squid, but as i had confidence in their menu, i was brave and I crossed a frontier for a variation of fish on Friday! This place not only served excellent food but gave great value and excellent service. I would return any day!

We hadn't been to this restaurant for some time as it was closed for a while for refurbishment. It is a real French restaurant serving hearty French country food. The type of food that local working people enjoy, one can see local office workers, agricultural workers etc and everyone eating and drinking with gusto. No wonder one reviewer said "Plenty to eat at last" or something to that effect. We ate ourselves to a standstill and had to leave quite a bit of food, much to our annoyance! Very refreshing to be the only Brits in a restaurant with about 70 covers which was incredibly busy all the time. Be sure to have no breakfast when you lunch here and you will be delighted with the delicious food.

The title of this review is ENTIRELY positive. We've eaten here several times and this was the first time we have not ended up at the end of the evening feeling completely 'stuffed'. The reason? We shared a starter then shared a cassoulet de la maison! The food choice at Tournedos is really good, with local dishes served up in traditional French helpings. It is very hard to resist and dangerously addictive. With good wine by the carafe, good service, a welcoming wood fire for cooking the meats at the end of the dining area and very reasonable prices for menus and 'a la carte', you just can't go wrong! Wednesday night in late April and no empty tables - only us and two Dutchmen were non-French, which says it all. Great place to eat indoors at this time of the year!

Visited for the first time for dinner with friends. This is a very pleasant restaurant inside although it appears not to have outside seating. 4 courses + wine offered offered for 23.50 euros - excellent value for money.Great steaks and pate maison. Good service. Open all year round. No complaints whatsoever.

Checked into the restaurant without a reservation in what turned out to be a full restaurant a little later. My friends shared a cassoulet between themselves whilst I had a tasty entrecôte with poivre sauce. As the cassoulet was a very big serve the restaurant seemed more than happy to place the leftovers in two aluminium containers for us to eat later. These mains were preceded with a large salad verte & a salad de jour not dissimilar to a salad nicoise. Unable to resist the sweets there was a large Peach Melba & a sorbet. The service was efficient & friendly with ability to communicate through our simple French. The total account with a cocktail & house wine came to a very reasonable €113.
