The setting is beautiful. The Dutch owner charismatic and friendly.. … and multilingual, but reading other reviews, after our visit, there seems a pattern emerging. We were also advised by him to order a half bottle of wine rather then by the glass. He also skimmed over the pizza page. The menu was confusing as there was a menu du jour at 16,50€. From the a la carte starters about 13.00€ mains 24.00€ but a “formula” of 27.00€ for two courses. Pizzas were about 14-15.00€. I opted for the owner’s special recommendation for main course…..pork cheeks and somehow thought that was the plat de jour. The meal was fairly lack lustre and as others have said the pizzas did seem the best option. Then the bill. I asked for it and the young waitress asked me to follow her into the château where she tapped out some numbers on a calculator and presented me with the card reader for 90,60€. In retrospect I’ve no idea where this figure came from. Everything on the menu was round figures so the 0,60€ popped up out of the blue. It was also impossible to see how she arrived at that total. We have a house in France, speak French, and live here half the year so are used to eating out here and thought we were immune to the “tourist sting”. Obviously not!
