Average food, nice surroundings but the service is so bad it is laughable (if you're not too hungry) Having complained that our starters took over 45 mins to arrive, our mains came out on plates so hot that two out five of us burnt ourselves. Place looks great but I would carry on it I were you.
My wife and I stayed in Macon for one night on our way south. We have been there before but had never noticed this restaurant, a bit away from the centre, not far from the river. The dining room has a very tall ceiling, a bit like an atrium and there is a great sense of space. The waiters were young but knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We fancied some fizzy wine and they let us taste a couple before we made our choice. The food - in particular my duck - was very good indeed and the service was attentive but not overly so. When we are on the road we have to decide on one restaurant out of many in the places we stay and it is always a relief when we have an experience like this. Relaxing and delightful.
A regular visitor to Macon on business so have visited this establishment many times but perhaps not in the future. It's a beautiful building with a querky organ which occasionally strikes up but the food is very average (half the bread basket was stale) and the staff tonight borderline rude - three staff members less than 20ft from my table sharing some private joke about my order? But I guess the joke was on me when the black bananas and melted ice cream arrived! Plenty of better establishments nearby for future!
Each year we eat New Year's Eve lunch here. We love the stylish traditional decor with lots of attention to detail.Normally is a choice of 4 menus. The food is uncomplicated, plentiful and quality is good.Excellent choice of wines as you would expect!. The service is normally prompt & polite.Our last visit we were seated next to entrance to the wine shop which wasn't warm - next time we'll reserve a table in the centre of the resto and be able to make it 5 stars!
Wonderful suprise great value for money the Cherve salad was excellent and we can confirm being experts in Cherve salads throughout our week in the Region everywhere it's was chèvre !All our dishes were well presented and the service was good. Also note we had a wine tasting just below the Restaurant.I can recommend the restaurant without hesitation.
