De mes dernières visites, dont celle estivale sans être la panacée, conforme à un établissement de restauration rapide, il n'y a rien à redire sur la qualité des sandwiches et snacks, les boissons. About once a year I have lunch at KFC, and this is usually when I am travelling. In this case we were staying just outside of Narbonne and we came across this restaurant. Having said that, I opted for the menu of 6 hot chicken wings (6.95), which came with a drink (I chose water) and french fries. As a snack it was good, but as a real meal it was terribly unhealthy. First, the grease used to fry the chicken covered my fingers. I kept thinking that all that grease was going into my body, then hardening, and later blocking my arteries. Second, the chips were cold and tasteless. The high point of my meal was the tiny bottle of water. Not one sliver of a vegetable or a tomato was anywhere on the plate. A list of the ingredients that KFC publishes tells us what we are eating: Here is the ingredients list for chicken bought at KFC: Seasoning (Salt, Monosodium Glutamate, Garlic Powder, Spice Extractives, Onion Powder), Soy Protein Concentrate, Rice Starch and Sodium Phosphates. Battered with: Water, Wheat Flour, Leavening (Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Monocalcium Phosphate), Salt, Dextrose, Monosodium Glutamate, Spice and Onion Powder. Predusted with: Wheat Flour, Wheat Gluten, Salt, Dried Egg Whites, Leavening (Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate), Monosodium Glutamate, Spice and Onion Powder. Breaded with: Wheat Flour, Salt, Soy Flour, Leavening (Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate), Monosodium Glutamate, Spice, Nonfat Dry Milk, Onion Powder, Dextrose, Extractives of Turmeric and Extractives of Annatto. Breading Set in Vegetable oil. The only completely non-toxic ingredients are the onion powder, sodium bicarbonate, and the garlic powder. These are only 3 ingredients out of 29, which means KFC ingredients are only 10% natural, and about 90% chemically enhanced . This does not take into consideration the chicken itself, which is full of antibiotics, steroids, and growth hormones, in the very least.
