Didn’t get off to a great start when we walked in mid-evening and the guy behind the bar said they were fully booked. Looked half empty to us so we went back outside, sat on the steps and called, asking for a reservation. The lady who answered said, sure, come now. So we walked back in and the bar guy’s face was a picture! The lady who’d answered the phone just cracked up and showed us to one of the many free tables outside. Don’t mess with us monsieur! We started with some great cocktails (Mojito and Tequila Sunrise) then a couple of different burgers. Good meat, perfectly cooked, with a couple of beers. At the end they gave us a free digestif each, because of the earlier ‘confusion’! To be fair, the guy who turned us away at the start was sheepishly lovely to us all evening. It’s a busy, buzzy place with kooky waitresses running around. Not sure what the USA connection really is. They had billiard not pool tables and neither the drinks nor food menus were particularly American. Even though we didn’t feel we were in the Wild West (and yes, we’ve been there) we did enjoy the evening.
