We were told when visiting this restaurant that all the riverside tables had been booked in advance but were offered the last table in the upstairs riverview section of the restaurant. It is a nice looking restaurant with an industrial feel. Metal chairs, quirky memorabilia etc. Service was very slow due to one waitress being run off her feet. Most people who were eating here were French and were given a bottle of tap water with their meal. We were given designer bottled water. I don't think the waitress was too pleased when we returned it and asked for the local tap water. We opted for the special lunch menu of starter, main and dessert at €15.90. Tiny portions, poor value and not very nice tasting food. We also pointed out some specific local beers/ciders to the waitress from the menu that we wanted to have with our meal. When we went to pay for our meal we were charged a €5 for a small bottle of beer that we chose from the menu for €3.80.I pointed this out to the proprietor who just shrugged his shoulders and said that the drink we ordered was only available in the summer so he gave us this more expensive one instead. Nice one eh!We definitely chose wrong when choosing this restaurant for our meal.
This was our third choice in Trentmoult (Reze) this day; the others were booked. Seems this charming town is a Sunday afternoon "destination" ...lots of strolling and photography going on of the darling house restorations of the old maisons des pêcheurs...so call ahead. At the Trent, the service was fine, the ambiance as well. Both the entrees and my husband's fish were pre-cooked, coming from packages. He was disappointed. My sole meunière was excellent, albeit a bit small for 18€. It is a decent place, but we will reserve at the others next time, la Civelle in particular, which looked far better in terms of food and atmosphere.
