The Authentique is a reliable small family run restaurant in a nice position adjacent to the Port of Roanne. They make the best Boeuf Bourguignon I have ever tasted in addition to plenty of other wonderful French dishes. The menu is not huge but always good. English is spoken to some degree and the French owners are really friendly. There is an inside area of course, but for summer days and evenings a covered area outside.

We were looking for a small and unassuming place after eating at 3-star places. L'Authentique Delivered. Food was excellent, service was personal and attentive. Price was very reasonable for the meal we were served (19e90). Language was a barrier because as Americans, we speak only English ;-p However, the proprietress introduced us to her best friend (her dictionary) and we always travel with Dr. Google. (And the party at the next table helped a couple of times!). I would highly recommend this restaurant. It is right on the canal and not near any of the active streets, but I imagine in summer time the area would be more vibrant.

The chef owner of this restaurant likes to experiment. Usually this picks up that fine. A small restaurant with great hospitality. Aimed at the pleasure of the guests.

We deserved a treat and Katya and Cristian were up to the task. We arrived at 7.30 to a very warm welcome and dining room. The first task, choosing a wine was easy, we chose local and it was delicious. The three courses were superb and very good value, the ambience quiet and relaxing. We were not overwaited but still felt well attended to. Thank you L 'authentique for a lovely, authentically french dinner.

Our first visit with our boat to the port of Roanne. Our search for a restaurant close by as the weather for June has been terrible brought us to the Authentic . Excellent in all ways. The host was young and made us feel at ease speaking where possible in English for us. We were the first customers to arrive but the restaurant was soon full with French families of all ages. The food was presented professionally and tasted excellent. .Also excellent value menu.

Katya and Cristian are the delightful owners of this small, welcoming restaurant, located along the port of Roanne. Thursday happy hour welcome the boating fraternity, and you can lunch and dinner by appointment. We thoroughly enjoyed a Valentines dinner that was 5 courses and accommodated my gluten allergy thank you

As we are moored in the Port and enjoy Thursday evening boaters drinks we decide to book a table for Sunday lunch. The weather is favourable so we sit outside with lovely views of the port, boats and surrounding area. The menu consists of three choices per course and I enjoy a well presented and tasty goats cheese salad whilst my husband had salad gourmand with three different meats. We both chose the Fish with a tasty sauce and veg. Knowing that I don’t eat meat the bacon around the beans was substituted with carrot. To finish I enjoyed profiteroles whilst hubby had ice cream and then coffees. The waitress spoke good English was friendly and very helpful. Definitely recommend

My husband have had drinks at L'Authentique many times with friends from the port, but this was the first time we had had dinner there. The menu was very good value with three choices for each course. (There is always at least one fish and one meat. We both had a delicious and original starter of a salmon terrine with mussel reduction and I then had the veal. It was slightly tough but otherwise very flavourful. The dessert chocolate profiteroles was superb. Jeremy and Katya are a lovely couple and look after everyone very well indeed. It is a good idea to book in advance because this is a small place and not always open. There is a lovely terrace next to the port for summer seating.
