I found this place almost by accident when I went to the market and saw the fresh oysters being sold there. Then I saw a place where I could taste them and then I realized that I could taste not just oysters, but something else too :) The menu were different the two days we were there (I guess, depending on seafood availability), but one thing stayed: freshness of the fish/lobster/oysters. I've tried a grilled lobster and fresh oysters on the first day and turbot in lime sauce and oysters again - on the second. Delicious! The prices are very reasonable, especially, comparative to the restaurants nearby and in tourist places, plus, given the high quality of the food. The service was fast and polite. Also, the way the meals are served, they don't remind of some simple food, but rather such from a fancy restaurant. The ingredients were always fresh, and I understand why at 12:30 (lunch time) this place is full. Recommended to reserve a table (sounds strange for a simple non-formal bistro at the market, isn't it? :)They also serve wine by bottles and by glasses, so you will always find a drink to accompany your dainty. I will definitely return to this place if I come back to Rouen.

Lunch, Sunday, May 14. Usually packed but we were lucky and found a table. This establishment is in the covered market (Vieux Marché) and is an annex of the very good fishmonger next to it. You are served on marble slabs and the place is a bit cramped and probably a bit drafty in winter though they have overhead heating and blankets--so don't expect plush seats, silver, and china. The whole point is that the fish, oysters, and lobsters are remarkably fresh and the quality is superb. See the attached photograph for the details of our lunch. Service is friendly and attentive, presentation is well above average and everything is really good if you like oysters and fish.

We came here for a snack of 6 oysters from Utah Beach, which had never had before and a glass of wine. This was not the cheapest alternative, (10 euros for 6) but they were divine. Next time we try the seafood platter. Only gripe is that they close at 7pm, so that means an early dinner. Friendly service despite the crush!

Nice restaurant next to the fish market serving all kind of sea food. Menu is only in French, the offer of the day on the wall also. Ask the staff for help, they are very kind.

Centrally located at vieux marche, this place has amazing seafood! The langoustine salad paired with crisp chardonnay was a winner!! The location within the market adds to the ambience. Oh yeah the server was a doppelgänger of Chris Pratt :) highly recommend this place as a lunch stop while strolling around this lovely town.

For the three/quarters of our foursome who love, love oysters, we could not believe our good fortune in stumbling across this Bar à Huîtres as we were meandering through yet another fabulous French market. The raw oysters themselves were large and delicious, but the highlight was even larger oysters, baked with Muscadet and a fig paté. So good that we had to order a second serving. All this plus a lovely sauvignon blanc, the freshest bread and delicious Normandy butter made it one of the best memories of our trip to France.

I stumbled across this market restaurant and had the most amazing lunch. The waiters and chefs were really friendly and knowledgable and suggested some loyal oysters which were the best I'd had in years. The chef also suggested a fish main and went into great detail about the sauce he made which was just incredible. This place has incredible food at a decent price. Would definitely go back and recommend!
