Given its geographical location with stunning views of Mount Saint michel and access to the beach, one could expect a tourist trap but not! On the contrary, we were greeted with a smile, we are patiently patient because it is complete, a table will soon be released. the staff is short but each one keeps his smile. We took fried mussels and a 400g tin. Meat and mussels are good but fries too! What's rather rare, you'd believe good Belgian fries, it makes you want to take all this back! one can be tempted by a dessert, "fricher dunes", a cream with thyme, honey, crumble, fresh strawberries. delicious and subtlely surprising. Encourage the whole team!
St Jean le Thomas is a beach where one can walk the dog, albeit on a lead, in high season. We walked ours (a miniature dachshund) with our son and daughter-in-law and their bulldog on a very windy Sunday, but we had taken the precaution of fuelling up with a steak at le Jardin des Dunes beforehand right by the beach. It had been recommended to us by our gite owner, and we were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and hard working, the other diners were enjoying themselves, the steaks were good and the prices were reasonable - and the dogs behaved themselves. We would recommend it. And as a bonus the little town has a typically good French boulangerie.
