This was probably the worst experience that we have had in over twenty years of holidaying in France. It may just have been the incredibly rude waiter that we encountered or it may be a wider problem but no potential customers should have been treated in the way that we were. We assume that the treatment that we received was because we went and sat down at a free table after having waited for five minutes to be seated. We then waited for at least twenty minutes whilst the waiter went to every other table but resolutely ignored us. We then decided to go up to the bar to try and order something and got told to go back to our table whereupon the waiter who had told us to sit down continued to ignore us. Eventually after thirty minutes altogether we gave up and went somewhere else. We were totally baffled by this ridiculous treatment, we didn't complain, we weren't uncourteous and we weren't noisy. We love coming to France, our french isn't brilliant but we always speak in French and don't assume that anyone will speak English. This was the only case of bad service we had in an idyllic three week break in the Cevennes, but if you find yourselves at the cascades here do yourself a favour and go to the fantastic pizza place opposite who were wonderful.
We've been visiting here for the last 6 years and every time have found Alex and his friends extremely welcoming and helpful.A brilliant bar who are always excellent hosts with some surprising and enjoyable range of food and drink. If you're in the area, you MUST visit. One of our favourite places we've ever visited.
