Davy's bar is situated in an idyllic position overlooking the main beach of this chic resort. The bar is decorated in an American style theme yet has the feel of an English pub. The bar staff are wonderfully friendly and the locals are extremely welcoming, an effort to speak even the smallest amount of French is well rewarded. The attached restaurant serves tremendous food under the supervision of the owner / chef - Christophe. His standards are exemplary and are evident in every dish served. The food is amongst the tastiest I have ever eaten and is also incredibly well priced. The menu is varied and you can choose anything from a simple pizza to a hearty three course French menu. The waiters are knowledgeable and take time to explain the ingredients and cooking of each meal on the menu. We have visited Davy's several times and never been disappointed. The staff remember you and treat you like old friends, Paddy, Francois and Camille work tirelessly to ensure you have a fantastic experience every time.
This quietly competent, matter-of-fact, friendly place has a stunning location on the cliff over-looking the bay. It's nicely ordinary, considering that the resort of which it is part is quite chic (indeed, a sort of relaxed Dinard). We had the cheapest menu from the board and it was not spectacular, but it was almost better than that: it was the kind of family cooking one used to get offered up and down France. Doubling as the local pizza take-away, and local bar, even on a quiet evening in May, it had a nice, low-key buzz about it.It is well worth mentioning that Ania Kropiowska, who was one of the waitresses that evening, is a pretty good artist and her works are on the wall, but - rather charmingly - with no sales pitch.
