I should have known by how empty the restaurant was not to stop by. When I ordered the man told me I couldn't order any sushi with fish, because the cook for Japanese cuisine wasn't there, so I ordered something else off the Chinese food menu- no big deal. However, the water tasted dirty. When I got my food I was swarmed by bugs the entire time I was eating, as the door to outside was open. I can only imagine how badly the kitchen must have been swarming with bugs. Then when I went to pay, the man cheated me out of two euros, because he assumed my french wasn't advanced enough to notice. I wasn't going to argue over it, but it shows a judge of character. This was one of my worst restaurant experiences.

We have eaten here several ti m es over the last five years. The food has a l ways been good and the service attentive. The price is competetive. What more can you ask?

Very disappointing visit to this restaurant. Everything in the restaurant was Chinese. From the plastic plates which we ate off to the various memorabilia. I was more than surprised to be expected to use the same cutlery for each course. While Vietnamese starters and main courses were ordered, nothing that was presented was remotely Vietnamese. Very poor quality Chinese food nothing more.

Good fresh Thai food, very good choice of dishes, good value for money. Best to book as restaurant is quite small. Friendly setting and staff. Do have menus in English.

It's big advantage was that it was open on Sunday when most , if not all, the other restaurants were closed - an important advantgae when you arrive in the town late on Saturday .the restaurant is run by a very friendly Thai husband and wife team.the choice of drinks were limited but the food excellent.

Finally visited Tan Thanh after years of walking past it. The welcome was funky, but friendly. Service fair, food...... maybe our error as we ordered two of the house specialties, but both dishes seemed to have the same sauce. To be fair, semi-rural SW France isn't renowned for an abundance of the fresh ingredients necessary for good oriental food, so being overly demanding is unreasonable. We enjoyed our evening, and the host was most welcoming.

We stumbled on this restaurant whilst shopping in St Foye and what a real pleasure it was to have found! We've subsequently visited this restaurant a few times and have always been impressed with the quality of food and the relaxed and friendly service from the owner ( and his superb chef wife). The food is different from the run of the mill Chinese restaurants & Buffet bars mostly found in France. The meals are delicately spiced and put together with such care and attention, the flavours are quite incredible and all we can say is, if you read this review, visit, dine and you will not be disappointed. (Try the beautifully scented crab starter with the most delicately flavoured mint rice we've ever tasted....delicious!!!).The main courses, normally chicken and pork based are superb, whatever you decide to order! The dessert choice is somewhat limited but never mind, you visit this restaurant to enjoy different tastes and different styles of cooking, the likes of which you might find hard to believe, are available here in this region of France.

Great Chinese restaurant if you are getting bored with the traditional French cuisine and fancy something different. Of all the Chinese restaurants we have tried in the area (we live nearby) this has been the best. It is unassuming but the quality of the food is excellent. The owner is front of house and is very proud of his wife's cooking - he always mentions that they use fresh produce and there is not a hint of MSG in any meal we have had. There are some traditional dishes that you would expect to find in a Chinese in the UK but also some that are different. The quality of the food is outstanding and the flavours created exquisite. There are two good value lunch menus (10 and 12 Euros) and it is also cheap (though not as cheap) in the evening. They have a well priced Duras white wine from near to Soumensac which goes very well with the food. As with all Chinese (also says Vietnamese) restaurants desert is a bit hit and miss - they cook traditional ones if you like them or they have ice creams etc. Starters and main courses are great. It doesn't look much from outside (or when you get in for that matter) but this is a real gem. If you give it a try I hope that you won't be disappointed. Do not get it confused with the one further up the street nearer to the traffic lights on the inner ring road. This is opposite the fish monger.
