Lunchtime meal was a bit disappointing. First course of cold tomatoe soup ( tasted like tinned soup) with a few cold mussels floating in it. Main course was an unexceptional Thai curry. Gave up after that and didn't have a dessert. The hosting was excellent and setting was very nice but let down by bland and unimaginative food.

The place is nice and the food is great. Presentation was fantastic. The host was very nice and made sure that we enjoyed the food. The chef came to talk to us and tell us about his food selection. We had the liver pate to start and the duck a l'orange, this was the best I had in France. The desert was a Lavender ice cream. Very exotic.

This small but perfectly formed Restaraunt sits close to the banks of the Charante River. The food is fresh local produce cooked to Michelin standard perfection. We had the digestion menu for three of us, and the chef accommodated our vegetarian friend with a menu to match ours, which she said was fantastic. There is a wonderful selection of wines to choose from, although the house wines by the glass are also equally as impressive. This formal restraunt has a very informal feel with a welcoming hostess who speaks good English. Try the house aperitif of champagne and horse chestnut syrup, the fish dishes are excellent, the beef ones melt in the mouth, and go for the chocolate desert which is silky perfection.

Le Table de Marion, which has had a Michelin Star since 2012, has recently added a Plat Jour for 18 Euros. We had never eaten at this restaurant before but decided to try the Plat Jour and were quite delighted at the result. Two of the three bites that made up the Amuse Bouche were excellent while the third seemed to lack any discernible flavour. I chose le soupe des legumes for an entree' and it was just wonderful in texture and flavour and the little dollop of curry seasoned creme fraiche was a marvelous touch. My plat, a wok cooked potatoes and chicken spiced with garlic, ginger and scallions was very tasty and much enjoyed. Then, for desert, I chose the mousse au caramel which was also very nicely prepared. The restaurant is small, very nicely decorated and on the intimate side. The service was very good and quite attentive. We will return and recommend that others try the Plat Jour for a weekday lunch.

Discovering restaurants such as La Table de Marion in Saintes is one of the great joys of travelling by car through France. Unassuming from the outside, the lunch wehad in this restaurant on our way to Paris was marvellous. We were given a very genuine welcome on arrival, and in no time found ourselves presented withsome very original and beautifully cooked dishes on a par with some of the other excellent meals we have enjoyed in France. The restaurant is small with calm moderndécor and the service was first rate. Dishes here have some novel touches. The lamb was the tenderest I have ever eaten in France (and that is saying something) and the accompanying garnish was full of flavour but harmonised well with the flavour of the meat. A dessert incorporating a green tea mousse with touches of lychee puree anda bourbon-flavoured ice cream on a pistachio sable was brilliant, and a combination one had certainly never come across before. GO for the food - we were delighted with our lunch and restaurants such as this deserve to be highly praised and well attended. They provide a wonderful treat for us all. Good luck to them

We tried the lunch time lunch menu at 25e.The environment atmosphere and service were excellent; however the main course did take a long time to arrive. We started with an amuse bouche, of confit of tomato and two crunchy things, none of which was very memorable, all rather bland. The next course was a cold courgette soup, made from courgette peelings, which was very bitter and insipid. We could still taste the bitterness two hours later and the only thing that would take the taste away was a blackcurrant ice cream. The main course was a single pork chop with some watery white cabbage with the rest of the courgette and virtually no seasoning (possibly a little ginger.) The whole plate was like a poorly presented school lunch.Dessert was a nice surprise of marzipan ravioli with a fruity panna cotta. All in all, although this was a lunch menu, it was certainly not of an acceptable standard for a Michelin starred restaurant.Very disappointed.

Well deserved Michelin star, in a small, intimate restaurant. We found Marion's wife to be very welcoming and knowledgeable. This is not a traditional, stuffy Michelin restaurant and there was no standing on ceremony - but the food speaks for itself.

We were recommended this restaurant by the captain of the boat that we had rented for the day, he asked what our plans for lunch were rand offered to phone ahead to see if there was availability at this restuarant. It is very small - probably only about 8 tables and we were a party of 6 I hope that we were not too noisy! The food was of a very high standard, beautifully presented with fabulous flavours. We were thrilled to have found this place , we were served good wine, not too expensive. This is apparently a husband and wife business, Marion is the chef and you can understand why they have been given a Michelin star, his wife is a very friendly, professional and efficient front of house, it was good that she can speak English too.If you are in Saintes it's worth taking time to find this restuarant and enjoy the wonderful food.
