Avoid this place if you can!!!! I recently came in for breakfast whilst at the livestock market. The lady who plated the breakfast was mannerly and told me that I had purchased a farmers breakfast. (For the set price of £7.95) however when I got to the till the woman who was taking payment was very rude and abrupt with me when I told her the other lady had said it was a farmers breakfast pricing. She questioned me and told me I was to pay more for mine even though it had no extra items than the other 3 members of my group. But there’s were fine? I should have followed my intuition the moment that I opened the door to the Canteen sticky door handle was a sign of what would be next. I went in mid morning, hoping to get a bacon sandwich and a coffee. The cooked breakfast items on display were unappealing (sitting in yellow grease bacon pale/translucent and barely cooked. At this point, I thought I 'd just opt for a coffee but nobody seemed to be serving. I waited a few minutes and then someone appeared behind the counter but they just ignored me and walked off. I use this truckstop on a fairly regular basis as an overnight stay on my way back to the Midlands from the West Country. I've always found the place clean, the staff friendly and helpful, the food fresh, hot and plentiful it's also pretty quiet through the night. The showers could do with a little attention though as there are not enough hooks to hang your clothes and towel and the water doesn't drain away very well and the drains smell a little bit please don't let this put you off staying here. Keep up the good work and sort the little quibbles out for a 5 star review in the future. Many thanks David from Coates Transport
I've just been presented with my choice of breakfast, very undercooked bacon, mostly uncooked mushrooms, poached eggs that had the yolks broken and swimming in tomato juice, not very appertising for over £10. I asked for the bacon to be cooked some more but it went from uncooked to cremated. I chose to leave with the food untouched. I use this venue about twice a week for breakfasts and whilst its never brilliant, especially the undercooked bacon, its never been this bad. I would also point out that the cleanliness of this cafe is not brilliant. Even on quiet days, like today, tables are un-cleaned and the floors are dirty. Réservez une table maintenant
I use this overnight truck park frequently and have never had any issues with security when parking my curtainsider. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. While the food may not be gourmet quality, it is definitely edible and acceptable, even for a picky eater like myself. The toilets and showers can get busy in the evenings. The meal vouchers are a nice bonus and they don't expire, so you can use them whenever you want. Even though I have retired from trucking, I will definitely stop by on my annual caravan trip to Cornwall to use up my remaining £10 worth of vouchers later this year.
We ordered breakfast at 1:35 PM and waited until 2:20 PM without receiving any food. We were informed that there was only one chef working and that he was not very experienced, with his main focus on fulfilling orders for the office staff. After 45 minutes of waiting, we decided to request a refund and leave. It would have been appreciated if the restaurant had informed us about the delay when we placed our order, especially since there was another table also waiting for their food.
very dirty, extremely rude and intimidating staff. Tables wernt clear and the food tastes like rubber. I wouldn't let my dog eat here quite frankly. Overall bad experience on multiple times. Saw one of the older members of staff pick up a dish of sause off a dirty table where someone had been using it then give it to another customer half empty and with food in it to use with their meal
The restaurant was clean and the staff were polite. However, I was disappointed with the £22 price for two farmer's breakfasts that had overcooked bacon that was devoid of color. I swear I heard it oink at one point. The coffee was also terrible, the worst I have ever had. Overall, it was overpriced and underwhelming. The location has potential but improvements are needed.
