What is it about the majority of Italians that makes them instantly likeable??? This street-side restaurant has plenty of seating inside but we opted for a pavement table as the sun was roasting. It is in a pleasant location on the banks of the canal, and in the centre of a triangle that has as its points the Cathedral, the University, and the European Parliament building. The nice Italian lady who served us was hilarious trying to explain what was on the menu, and laughed and giggled with us in our total lack of comprehension.In the end we just had a Panna Cotta, a Banana Split and a couple of coffees, and were well satisfied.It closed for the afternoon but they urged us to linger, use their wifi, and use the loo if we wanted.Lovely little place.
We were roaming about beautiful Strasbourg, heading the St. Paul's Cathedral, and saw a great many pubs on the bank of the canal with lots of visitors. As we wished to eat we entered the L'Osteria Restaurant Italia. It was empty on the Easter night but it did not confuse us as the weather was great!...The interior was pleasant, with the red colours prevailing. The waitress was smiling and welcomed us to a table. The attached photo shows a great look through the restaurant window.The menu showed not too many meat dishes, but quite a good variety of pizzas and pastas. We decided to stop on them, thinking this was the speciality of the place, and did not want to risk with the meat courses. The pizza were nothing extraordinary, lavishly covered with cheese. The prices were nor low, neither too high. The workers were welcoming and smiling at us.If you happen to be in this region, you could taste nice pizzas, as we cannot say anything of the meat dishes. Just a nice place to enjoy yourselves.
when i visited this establishment in July of last year, the service was poor, and the food was nukedright out of a frozen box.. I am told that the people that owned it are ill, and sold it to a new groupSince i did not visit the place since the change happened, almost two months ago, i wish the readerto consider my writing on this local as old news/Give it a shot if you wish, write your fair description, or wait a while, since i go often to this wonderful city.Enjoy the journey
facing this establishment is the river bank row of restaurants and barges, right next to the hugewater fountain. Thinking it may be better to eat where they restaurants get less traffic is a noble idea but the food was pre cooked, nuked in the microwave for a bit too long, making the pasta crunchy and stuck to the side of the dish, with something called chicken in there.They forgot to bring the salad (the place is empty) but offered to take back the food and bring the salad!! sure, freeze the stuff then nuke it again.what a shame; in Strasbourg, i am supposed to eat super french/german food.... One has to hate himself to sit here
