"A culinary journey through the Saarland or an article on the Niedmühle contained in this highly recommended book had made us curious, as well as the very well-made homepage of the Niedmühle. The welcome in the entrance area by Mrs Burbach, who runs the Niedmühle together with her husband, and one of her service ladies was very friendly and expert professional. We immediately removed the wardrobe and then freed, either in the restaurant itself or in the adjoining winter garden. We prefer to stay in the restaurant; very pleasant that there is plenty of space between the individual tables and therefore the guests do not move towards each other. Ms. Burbach hardly noticeably directs the service from the background and rarely switches on directly. This is also hardly necessary, because the two ladies who are responsible for the service at the guest had everything in their best grips: very competent and always at the place without having to look impressive. In addition to the items listed on the menu, which we almost all liked very well, we were alerted to the current so-called gourmet menu at the price of EUR 73.00 per person (without wine tasting). We liked to follow this proposal; because I don't eat geese pot liver from principle, I left out this first gear, which is why my menu was calculated instead of EUR 73,00 with EUR 62,00. The other food sequence of the menu was Ravioli with warm blood sausage filling on champagne sour wort, duet from bear cancer tail and veal bries, sole roller vacuum-garted on gray scales and shells, fillet and steak from the domestic vine and as dessert mousse au chocolat and zwetschgensorbet. Chef Burbach did an excellent job. All dishes (except the Gänselebers and the Desserts) were cooked to the point without exception, tasted and dressed very appealing. Apart from the fact that the Zwetschgensorbet seemed quite sour to me, we were extremely satisfied with the bids here and spent almost three very pleasant hours in the Niedmühle. They would have been much more pleasant for me if the seating had been a bit more comfortable; during long sitting, the front edge of my chair has pushed me quite sensitively against the thighs during the course of time. I am sure, however, that a pillow would have been brought to me immediately upon request. We will be happy to visit the Niedmühle again on occasion; the very long journey is worth in any case. The prices of individual dishes from the normal card are relatively high, but especially at the menus in view of the bids are quite within the framework, especially since in the star kitchen quite different prices are called. And from my point of view, Mr Burbach and the Niedmühle really lack wineries for the star kitchen; I can forgive the full number of stars here."
