Last night, we concluded our Thanksgiving weekend in Georgetown by treating ourselves to a meal at 1789 Restaurant, a Michelin-starred establishment. It certainly exceeded our expectations and truly delighted our taste buds! We started with the butternut squash soup, which was so exceptional that we knew the subsequent dishes would be even better. The decor, service and food was fabulous. We went on Easter Sunday for their brunch menu. My wife's appetizer was the Hamakua Farms Hearts of Palm with baby arugula, parmigiano-reggiano and fried shallots. Her main course was the Duck with fermented turnips, watermelon radish, rutabaga hash, house-made ricotta and walnut truffle. The desert Lemon Raspberry a sablé brenton, whipped lemon ganache,raspberries and toasted meringue. I had the Vichyssoise made with fried leeks and parsley oil. My main course was the Colorado Lamb Chop, a pistachio-dusted loin, sugar snap peas, romanesco, baby carrots and mint oil. This was our first time and will make it a regular dine for us.
We had an amazing experience at 1789. The food was fantastic, the waitstaff was friendly, and the manager was incredibly knowledgeable. He shared interesting historical facts, including details about the Exorcist house and steps just across the street. We enjoyed the short ribs and sirloin, while my brother-in-law had the halibut. We also sampled the lobster and octopus appetizers, which were delicious. They even called a cab for us. Had an excellent time grabbing dinner here! The food was absolutely amazing, and the art on the walls was fun to look at and made for great conversation. I ordered the eggplant and butternut squash soup. It was literally the best soup I have ever had in my life, absolutely amazing. The wine list was excellent as well. Really recommend for a private romantic date night!
Absolutely fantastic! The food was delicious, the service was outstanding, and the dining room had a warm and cozy atmosphere. We were a bit underdressed, as it’s definitely the type of restaurant where a sports coat would be appropriate. If you’re in search of a nice meal, this is definitely a place I would return to. Great job, 1789!
Food was amazing and perfectly portioned! So much that we had to take home leftovers! Wonderful date night spot. Drinks were phenomenal as well…combinations complimented each other so nicely. We ended our meal with sharing the cheesecake with some coffee and couldn’t have been more satisfied.
Excellent food and fabulous service. Such a great dining experience, one of the best in DC!! Desserts topped off an amazing dinner snd they were off the charts!
