1853 Restaurant And Bar

My friend and I went there for a cream tea, the grounds are beautiful, service was excellent but the 'cream tea ' was absolute rubbish. We had a glass of processco each, lovely, but then the tea turned up, we asked for English breakfast tea, I think someone forgot to add the tea leaves, English breakfast it was not. On the server were four scones with cream and jam, fine there were four small sandwiches ok, but the cakes were obviously stale, they were crumbled at the edges, hence they had been handled a number of times. the whole presentation looked tatty and old and all for £56??? rip off.

This is where we had our breakfast mainly self serve..I decided on the omelette which could be ordered plus choices of full English or continental, cereals fresh fruit. I found this room to be very busy and quite loud, but the food was to a high standard which we also found when we had our evening meal...I did prefer to be in the bistro to be honest a lot more intimate!

Op zich mooie grote historische ambiance, op zich prima eten, alleen de heel was te droog, maar helaas slechte service, om te bestellen zowel voor diner als desert als rekening, alles Moest je zelf de bediening vragen te komen, kwamen niet uit zichzelf, dat kan niet voor een restaurant in een 4 Sterren hotel

Delicious dinners during our stay here. I enjoyed pate, soup, pork belly and 'blade of beef ', the latter of which just fell apart and I already miss it!

Fantastic food service ! Fully enjoyed both breakfast evening meals at the restaurant and great selection of wine
