Tried this place for a weekday lunch after too much hype from friends and social media. Great spot in a well established food and boutique stretch. The decor and position was good, however there were a lot of similarities in terms of structure with the neighbors especially when you sit outside. This place is known for it's crazy long waits and overpriced desserts. And yup that's pretty much right, but it is the new 'it' dessert place. In saying this, I am a fan of 50sixone and I do like the desserts. All the desserts look awesome (definitely all Insta-worthy) and they have interesting items on the menu like deep fried oreos, icecream cookie sandwiches, fries served with icecream and chocolate dipping sauce, though they can be a bit hit and miss. I've never had a bad brunch before.. until now. Decided to give in to the hype and try it out one morning, instant regret. First of all, the wait for a table was about 30 minutes, when there were some empty spots available.. no sign of being reserved so I'm not sure why they weren't offered. Once we got a table and ordered, the wait was another 30 minutes. We were given a bottle of table water, but the glasses came out 10 minutes later. When the food came out, I have to say it looked amazing. However, it turned out to be the most bland and tasteless meal I've had for a long time. We went for lunch on a Saturday and only waited 15 mins for a seat (which was overlooking the diners in the adjoining restaurant so that was a bit awkward.... get some screening!!). We had the Oreo Milkshake (45min wait) and savory waffles (20mins).. The milkshake was not as sweet or sickly as I anticipated, and enjoyed it! The waffles were fine but needed some sort of sauce on the dish. Lots to choose from on the menu and it's not all sweet though the milkshakes are the star attraction here and you can expect a wait and for your food to be delivered well before the shake. The food was good, but expensive and very 'pretty '. They know they 're an Instagram worthy sort of place and play up to it big time. Not sure if the worth is worth the price for the portions. I did really love my stuffed peppers, but it really felt the quality of the food came a smidge after the presentation of it. Their pancakes were quite tough and rubbery. The 24K freakshake was not really worth it, yes it had some gold on it, but I feel they 're better taking that off and selling it at a lower price, however I will say that their shake under all the topping was a highlight of the meal.
After hearing good things about this place I decided to try this for my birthday. Firstly we had to line up for about 10 minutes, but if you're willing to wait, it's all part of the experience. Once we were seated we noticed the dim lightning which was nice but the music was a little bit too loud to have a comfortable conversation in a group. The loud music is the only thing I would criticise. The food is everything everyone raved about and more! Everyone tried something different and loved it. They even offer delicious vegan dessert options.
We visited this restaurant for lunch and decided to try their burgers and sandwiches. We were pleased to find that all the items were delicious and the portion sizes were just right. We also treated ourselves to three of their famous shakes, which were absolutely fantastic. Although the shakes were on the pricey side, they were large and difficult to finish after our meal.
