After about 24 or 25 of our guests had eaten, one of the main dishes we had ordered—mutton—disappeared and was replaced with chicken. When we inquired about this, an older lady offered a small bowl of mutton to just two of our guests. The biggest surprise came when we went to settle the bill. The staff claimed that 35 adults and 10 to 12 children (ages 5 to 12) had dined at our party. We strongly contested this, asserting that only 27 adults and 8 children had been present.

The cook is from the heart of Calcutta and is able to prepare most of the traditional Bengalee dishes with supreme quality. However, our experience in this restaurant was quite interesting! Once we went to find that the buffet was not available as food was wasted on the previous day !!! making us go for a la carte. The second time we called beforehand to make sure that buffet was offered and went there. As we arrived, we found that half of the items were unavailable due to the presence of a 20 member family out there who came to eat. We had to wait 15 20 minutes for each item to be refilled. I really wanted to see this restaurant succeed, but I'm not sure why it ended up closing. A couple of years ago during Durga Puja, the manager charged us $2 for complimentary paans, which I found quite amusing. Unfortunately, the service was poorly managed, leading to long delays, which is why I originally gave it a 1-star rating. The food itself was decent and maintained a sense of Bengali authenticity, but the overall experience left much to be desired. My original rating remains at 1 star with no additional comments.
My second visit after a year and had a disappointing experience with the lunch buffet .. veg was bad and fish and mutton was very average and to top it up didn't know that they had increased the buffet price to $15 for adults and $10 for child .. so paid a total of $45 for lunch and had a pathetic experience with both my wife and child not liking the food at all .. Giving 2 stars I guess because of being a bong and had fish and mutton

This is the only restaurant in the east coast that serves bengali cuisine from India. This is not your restaurant if you are looking for authentic butter chicken/ chicken tikka masala or dosa. The bengali food from Jackson Heights caters to another style that is more unique to Bangladesh. For the other variety from West Bengal this is, to my knowledge, so far the onky place in the east coast.
I don't know why this place is 4 stars. Went in for Buffet today and I have had much better Indian food. The samosas were too oily and the stuffing in it tasted weird. The main course curries were so so in taste. The gravy had too much cream in it. They had gulab jambun for sweets and it was hard as a rock. its supposed to be soft.
This restaurant doesn't offer the best food; it's often served cold. My experiences have been inconsistent. The service feels quite inexperienced as well. I would recommend looking for another Indian restaurant instead.
Lunch buffet is very ordinary comparing the price. Been in the evening, snacks were much better!
