a Cena is our favorite restaurant in Portland hands down. The atmosphere is that of an authentic Italian dining experience. It’s an intimate space with beautiful decor. The staff are talented and knowledgeable in both the food selections and the wine pairings. Our ongoing experience has been that we can throw out what we are craving for wine that evening and our server will always give us just what we are looking for. Now, the food. Oh. My. Gosh. Fabulous! We dropped in without a reservation and were thrilled to be seated. The menu has many unexpected choices. This is not run-of-the-mill Italian. We enjoyed our experience so much we went again two days later. The server recognized us and remembered our beverage preferences. The second visit was even better! The owner unobtrusively circulates in the dining room occasionally delivering bread to a table or taking a drink order. Did I mention the food? I can't do justice with words. Three of us, two meals: we sampled six different dishes and each one was our favorite. The lamb was particularly good. I recommend ordering the Al Forno which turns the chef loose to create amazing. The food was absolutely incredible! My husband and I dined here for the first time and couldn’t have been more pleased. We began our meal with a burrata appetizer, followed by the handmade corn lobster ravioli and the special albacore tuna. The atmosphere was both cozy and lively, making us feel as though we were far away from Portland. We are already looking forward to returning with friends and family. Despite the busy restaurant, we were seated and served in just 1 hour and 15 minutes. Our server, Katherine, was fantastic—extremely knowledgeable about the menu and offered great wine suggestions as well!

I can't stop thinking about the amazing dishes we had! We started with calamari and a charcuterie board, which were both fantastic. Then we moved on to a dish featuring guanciale and eggplant parmesan, and finished with a delicious steak. The drinks were strong, the service was impeccable, and I can’t wait to come back for more! I had a truly wonderful dining experience. The service was phenomenal—not hovering, but attentive when it mattered. The food was fresh, flavorful, and the portions were just right. I believe everything was done exceptionally well!

I knew I would love this restaurant and I did! The pasta was so delicious and it is all made in house! We tried several appetizers, salads mains and dessert so I guess you could say we tried the whole menu! Delicious from A-z!

The food was fantastic. However, the server was somewhat bothersome and almost rude. Additionally, the tables were arranged too closely together, making it difficult to feel comfortable.

Our party of 5 had a wonderful meal there once again. The portions have grown smaller as so many restaurants have since covid days but the food is great wait staff is stellar. Réservez une table maintenant
