Abigail's American Bistro

Wonderful!. I met some friends here for an informal dinner. The menu is perfectly dimensioned, not too many options to overwhelm and not too few to leave a wish. The beverage list is more eclectic, from your standard whisky/wine to unique cocktails. The food itself was well prepared and quite delicious, without a doubt because of the fresh ingredients that the cook used in preparation. The Scottish salmon is definitely worth a shot for the seafood lovers out there. Abigail's has a very lively atmosphere and houses a decor that offers a blend of trend and class perfectly to impress this special person on a date. Beautiful terrace, but not worth waiting. Abigails could be a nice, pleasant neighborhood bistro if perhaps on the expensive/higher side of things. But it fails to reach the coveted neighborhood favorite status because the entire operation takes SO seriously. In fact, there is no need for the dipped tones of the servers, the precious descriptions, such as various ingredients have been raised locally/sustainably, etc. It would be a much better experience if the staff were not so, I don't know... maybe Haughty is the right word? All in all, Abagail 's only 't offer good value; what they serve never seems to live what they calculate.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The waiting staff is so friendly, the restaurant manager is one of the nicest guys ever, and their food is AMAZING. We recently brought my 5 week daughter to my mother's birthday dinner, and my nudeby and I were nervous that they had a child there. They were so friendly and accommodating. Also everyone should try the lavender honey soda. They make it fresh and it's the best stuff on Earth. I'm looking forward to dinner here. Best Tempura Shrimp, Ahi Tuna, Flatbread, Flat Iron Steak and Cheeseburger as well. Don't miss this place.

Good experience with the exception of waiting. Good, fantastic drinks and food. Beautiful neighborhood vibe in place (although it gets quite loud). My only complaint is the absence of reservations (except before 6), which means very long waiting times on weekends. For this reason alone I will not hurry, but we have tasted our experience differently.

Outstanding food and great atmosphere; it is creative fresh and a lot of care is put into every dish. A must try if you are in Highland Park. Excellent if you want to grab dinner before ravinia.
