My friends and I decided to stop by this pub with the intention to grab a quick drink, upon arrival I ordered some drinks and was met with sarcasm and overall rudeness. Me and my friend were honestly shocked by how we were spoken to, but brushed it off as we didn’t want to ruin a good night. However, little did we know this was about to get so much worse. My friends and I had only been sat down for around 10 minutes, when an angry bartender approached our table. An historic little pub tucked away in a quiet corner of the city and a handy stop along the river walk. We found the landlady and gentleman behind the bar very welcoming with a good choice of real ales and food. The prices were reasonable and service excellent. The landlady, Rita, also gave us a little leaflet abut the history of the pub and as the oldest pub in the city was fascinating. A small pub with a quirky and interesting interior and a small,lovely little beer garden in front.
I came here with my partner for a pub lunch and a couple of beers. We sat out the front and admired the gorgeous flowers, the pub is so quaint!! If I were to come back I probably wouldn't eat again, I got sausage and mash and it was... OK. There was bacon but it was rock hard and flew off my plate when I tried to cut it. Would definitely recommend sitting outside for a drink, but you'd probably get nicer food elsewhere.
This is a perfect staging post for those who have business at the Norwich courts because it is between the car park and the courts. To host clients for a quiet meeting in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere is a must for me and the food and beverage options suited what we needed. The landlady gave us a warm welcome and good, old fashioned hospitality. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Definitely recommended!

Friendly reception for our visiting Australian family member, who thoroughly enjoed the generous helping of a full Sunday lunch. The pork crackling was crunchy and the Yorkshire pudding was just right. For our three-strong party, it couldn't be faulted and it was jolly good value for money.
Warm welcome in this historic pub, there is plenty of seating and we all had the most wonderful food, at very good prices. It is next to the law courts so you get the lawyers popping in for lunch too. Outside seating if the weather is nice and in a peaceful location
6 of us visited Norwich and were recommended to try this pub… So glad we did, What a Gorgeous little gem Full of history, we even went back to have Sunday lunch, the real ale drinkers amongst us said it was the best pint they had all trip
Cosy little pub really nice out the front and nice beer selection which I hope continues to impress. really nice front of the pub pretty sure does food till 6 as well

Great burger and chips, good sav blanc. Absolutely what I looked for in and old hotel. Traditional old pub with no upgrades to be seen. Awesome door and bar area.
What a lovely pub. We were just passing by last week and saw the pub and went in for a drink. We have a chat with the landlady who was so nice it made our day.
