Arrived at the restaurant and they had our booking but not for afternoon tea. They still accommodated us, 3 altogether, and served a bottle of Prosecco while we we’re waiting. The food was lacking any pastries they just shoved some biscuits on with a scone with currants, which 2 out of the 3 of us don’t like. A few cuts of meat and bruschetta. We asked for a 2nd bottle of Prosecco which they brought to our table . About 25 minutes to the end of the 90 minutes we were allocated we asked for more Prosecco as it’s advertised as unlimited. We booked on line and had planned to take a handicapped member of our family for an early meal. When we arrived at the restaurant there was a notice on the doors to say that it was closed for the day, sorry for the inconvenience. Well thanks for that! Any chance you could have come back to us to tell us you were shut? Miserable performance from people who don’t care about their customers. However it’s not all bad news. Firstly Al Forno doesn’t need to worry about us being customers ever again. Secondly, and more importantly, we went to the Indian restaurant opposite and it was excellent, the staff made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
We were visiting Darlington for a couple of nights and decided to try Al Forno. I can honestly say that this was the best Italian meal that we have had in many years! We started by sharing a garlic bread with tomato which was very tasty. This was followed by 2 excellent pasta dishes one was penne with chicken and a pink peppercorn sauce and the other was spaghetti with mixed seafood both were full of flavour and delicious. This was washed down with some excellent house wine. We will definitely be back next time we are in Darlington.
We reserved a table for 30 people to celebrate our Silver Wedding anniversary on New Year's Eve. We were allocated the upstairs dining room exclusively for our party. The food was delicious, arrived hot, and was exactly as we had ordered. The staff were outstanding. We highly recommend Al Fornos. We give it 5 stars from us. Thank you for making our celebration stress-free on one of the busiest days of the year.

I went to Alforno's on Saturday, December 9th for the first time in a year, and it was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was cozy and warm, decorated beautifully for Christmas. I went with friends and we all loved our meals. The atmosphere was so relaxing, it's no wonder they have won awards for their outstanding food. I will definitely be back. Alforno's truly made my afternoon special.
Went for a pre theatre meal, were warmly greeted and seated quickly. The food and service were first class and could not fault any part of the experience. Although the staff were young, they were very friendly and helpful and had obviously been well trained. The manager was attentive, friendly and helpful. Food excellent, we will be back. 5 stars.
We hadn't been here for a long time as were very disappointed last time we ate here. However, last night we were very pleased to see a busy restaurant and to report that the food was up to the standard we used to expect well done Al Forno for restoring our faith in you. We'll be back
6 of us had lunch 14/10/2023. Seated in window airy light. We all choose from Lite bites everyone enjoyed there meals. Nicely presented. Clean plates says a lot. Great value for money. Clean restaurant. Staff friendly,polite smart in uniform. Always first class

We have visited this restaurant multiple times. The food is fantastic, but unfortunately, the service is lacking. Top marks for the food, but the service needs improvement.
