Aldo’s is a restaurant in the fishing village of Ardglass and has been in business for over years. We booked a table for Sunday lunch having never been before. On arriving the place was packed with Sunday lunchtime dinners and we were given a...table in a cosy fisherman’s cove like room at the back of the restaurant which soon also filled up with people. The food was good plenty of fish options with the hake and cod being popular choices for our table along with a fantastically creamy mussels starter (supplied with great wheaten bread). Wine can be bought by the glass. What made the lunch even better was the friendly atmosphere of both the other dinners and the staff.
What a great place, Nail the owner is a lovely guy very helpful and takes great pride in his work, staff and restaurant, his mum makes the best lasagne in the country. The restaurant is bright and cheerful and greeted with a smile from all...the staff. The food is fantastic great variety to choose from my only small negative though is I am a bit disappointed they stopped doing the set menu you use to be able to get a course or course meal for under which really helped the pocket and purse strings if you had a few people with you, but apart from that you wont be disappointed on food.
I have written many reviews, some good, some not so. One of my best friends is a top chef, so I know good food when I eat it. My wife knows if I see hake on a menu I stop reading. Rarely, if ever have...I been served a better prepared or cooked piece of fish, it was simply superb. The accompaniments, the surroundings and staff complimented the meal. We observed lamb at a nearby table falling off the bone. Our only disappointment is that we won't be here for a couple of years, to call again.
I can't praise this charming family restaurant enough. The cozy top lounge bar is the perfect place to unwind, enjoy a pre-dinner drink, and browse the menu. The food is exceptional, the welcome is always warm, and the staff go above and beyond to ensure a great dining experience. The Fish of the Day dish is a standout favorite. Niall always goes out of his way to make sure we have a wonderful family meal. It's our Mum's top choice for dinner, even at the age of 94!

Our first visit to Aldo's was fantastic in every aspect. The starters of arancini and pate were both delicious. It's rare to have such a great start and not be disappointed by the main courses, but at Aldo's, the monkfish curry was perfect and the Cajun hake stole the spotlight due to the high quality of the fish. The servers were friendly and helpful. Aldo's is clearly a favorite among locals, but it's definitely worth traveling to Ardglass just to dine there.
Congratulations to ALL concerned- Sunday lunch for greeted us with a happy jovial welcome- showed us to our table- starters- exceptional- patè,prawn cocktails. Main courses scampi,roast sirloin of beef,salmon with veg,potatoes etc all of which were perfect as were dessert diabetic cheesecake,ice...cream and pavlova- I jest If you have not yet dined here- do so my previous visit was circa and it is still the same family run restaurant
Stopped into Aldos late on a Friday, was greeted with friendly and very pleasant staff. Dymhna in particular was a great treat to meet. The service was quick, not intrusive and very efficient, We can thoroughly recommend Aldos, especially the fish and sticky toffee for...desert. Well done Adlos
Sunday evening about pm. We had Lasagne very nice, and Scampi which was excellent, maybe just a slightly larger portion would be good, but the flavour was great and perfect batter. No room for starters or desserts as we'd eaten lunch, but...all sounded good and will try next time.

Great Sunday lunch today. Would recommend this restaurant I had thai fish cakes for starter, delicious, my hubby had the pate, very tasty. For mains I had roast beef dinner, portion size was amazing. Hubby had scampi. Best ever! For for courses,...best value.
Outstanding meal great staff. This remains the number restaurant in Lecale (Caveat yet to try the revamped Cuban)
