Almgasthaus Sattelbauer

We went 9 people to Sattelbauer, it's a LONG distance from the town of Flachau, compared to all the other restaurants there. The service was very good, and as we were one of the last tables that evening, the manager came and said hi, and offered all at our table a shot on the house - nice gesture! The food though wasn't the best we had in Flachau! Every single one of us found our meals (8 different meals) too salty, which were very sad as there wasn't anything else to put a finger on, but still too much salt in the food, destroys even the best meal.

I don't understand people raving about the food, it's average plain Austrian food served in many, many other restaurants in Flachau. Served, that must be said, in big quantities. But you don't have to go uphill for that.That being said, the biggest fun begins after your dinner, preferably in the dark. For a few euro you can borrow a sled, with which you can go downhill on a slightly illuminated path right through the woods. A crazy funny ride, well worth the less than perfect food experience.

Food was great, portions were ridiculously huge and the athmosphere was great at night. It is not easy to get to the restaurant since it is outside the city and on the top of a hill. We took a cab ride from the parking lot, wasn't sure if you could actually go up there by your own car. The sleigh ride back to the parking lot was a bit scary since it was so dark, but that part is probably loads of fun in the daylight.

We had diner with our family. Very Nice, fast service and friendly waiters. With typical high quality local farm food. In an beautiful old Austrian ambiance house. And we got free snaps from the owner! In one word excellent night out on any aspect!

Fine dining on the top of a small mountain pass in an authentic Austrian-style house. On the terrace You can enjoy the best landscape of the region!!! The staff is extremely friendly, the surrounding is very quite, excellent also for children!

Besides long and narrow road to the restaurant, everything was fine. Service was fine. Owner of the restaurant visited all guests and asked if they are satisfied with food. Typical Austrian cuisine.
