This is a hidden gem (at least to most people outside of Switzerland and Germany) nestled among the mountains in the canton of St. Gallen (the town is about 50kms to the North). Started by grandpa Stump as a embroidery unit at the turn of the last century turned into a sort of wood craft/machinery store after the economic crisis of 1905. The founder then added a restaurant/eating place to cater to employees and others. The grandsons (Rolf and ?) razed everything to the ground (and there is plenty of ground) a few decades ago and built a terrific resort that caters to families, businesses holding conferences (they have lots of meeting spaces) and others on holiday. We only stopped by for a drink on a Sunday just before lunchtime. The place is nice with a chalet feel to it but the main restaurant is furnished in a more modern way, less wood, sparsely decorated and bright. The waiters are very well dressed, women in traditional Swiss dirndls and the men in waistcoats and ties. I took a look at their menu and their chef, who is mentioned all over the menu as well as in the introduction, seems to be well known and commands a 15 person kitchen brigade. I visited this hotel 4 years ago in a company event and we decided to go back with a small child for a long weekend. it was just perfect. eat amazing food, they baked their own brot and used many of the regional products. they won't. be disappointed! there are all kinds of options for vegan, vegetarian, etc. service unique and super friendly service from all areas! child-friendly location my daughter was super happy. they have really looked after all the small details. location you can only take your skier, snowboard or slidde and drive a few meters away from the hotel. snow was not the best, as the season was almost over, but we really have a good time with the paragliding. our room was in...
We stayed twice for two nights in 1 year in this hotel and the least we can say is that we are delighted with this place! The hotel is great with its Spa and gym, not to mention the region of course! The team is super nice and caring. The family and relaxed atmosphere allows you to make a real break and feel good! The most that seduced us was the great welcome reserved for animals, which is very rare in Switzerland. In short, on top! Enjoy! if you are looking for a wonderful hotel on the pists in winter, this is the place to go! with friendly staff and great location with magnificent mountain views, this hotel is perfect for a winter holiday. ski to the door, wonderful attractions and only an hour...and a half of zürich. a complete restaurant with a beautiful menu and great eating ensured that we are not hungry! would definitely recommend to choose stump’s alpenrose for a short holiday.
I travel a lot to work to Switzerland. since I've been to this hotel many years ago, it's my favorite! it is a family hotel and it is absolutely beautiful there! every time I stayed in stump’s alpenrose the owners and the personal makes them feel at home. eating is regional and extraordinary! the people who work there are more dedicated! just go there and enjoy a real curse from everything!
that was me when I read in the menu “Additional cutlery 9 CHF”. I assume it is to stop people from sharing teller. it seems to me to be ashamed of the place. try not to accept too much, we have tried to not help some dishes....Poor choice of dishes. vinager in all salates, a lot of them. terrible service unpleasant and slow over worte. terrible.
Everything was fresh high quality, delicious and served with love and passion. We enjoyed all meals especialy New Year Eve's one which consisted of seven dishes.

Starting from the fantastic weather to the very pleasant service. Salad was very fresh and meat very tasty. Lovely table indoors and great 2007 wine.
