The cottages have been updated and cleaned nicely, and the employee housing has received a makeover with air conditioning added – a great improvement considering those buildings used to be sweltering in the summer heat. However, parking has significantly decreased.
The historical value and appearance of the main buildings have suffered; the interior design has been modernized, which unfortunately detracts from its original charm, while the exterior still looks run-down and in need of repairs.
My wife and I visited for lunch on a relatively slow day. There were just two tables occupied in the restaurant, including ours, yet around 13 staff members were present, seemingly doing very little....
Easily the worst condition golf course I have played on, for $72 a round (w/cart) you hope there would be decent course management. To be fair i'm sure there was as string of dry weather before, we golfed the 4th of July week, a discount or at least a warning of the condition of the course would have been nice. Fairways were like concrete and the greens were spongey. I try to give the course the benefit of the doubt, but the majority of the courses in the door county area had watered and green fairways.
We called ahead for a reservation and were told they do not make reservations. We waited 15 minutes to be seated, then sat at the table for 20 minutes. Not even our drink order was taken. Customers seated after us were already served. We left, and preceeded to hear other customers talking about their reservation. We were very disappointed because we were excited to eat there. However the views were wonderful during our wait. (For Burtons on the Bay Restuarant on grounds)
It felt like playing in a cow pasture—there were no real fairways, and I might need to visit a chiropractor after my round! The "fairways" were very bumpy, almost like being on a rough roller coaster ride, and there were no signs directing you to the next holes. I play about 50 rounds of golf each year, and I've never encountered a worse course. Honestly, I should have been paid to play here. The only highlights were the staff and the greens.

Additionally, the course was in terrible condition. Sprinklers were running right in the middle of the greens, causing delays—this was a much bigger issue than our desire to enjoy the game together. Given that we paid full price for a subpar course, they could have been more lenient. Although the course was advertised as having views of Green Bay, we found only one hole that actually had any scenic beauty. Overall, I will not be returning.
We had a great day today. The course is a bit in rough shape, but we trust that the new owners will invest in improvements. The greens were in excellent condition. There are a few tight holes on the course. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We'll definitely be returning.
Golf course is s lot better than seven years ago and I understand there is a commitment to continue improving it over the next few years. Fairways and most greens are playable The rockcliffs, trees and evergreens surrounding the course make it a very attractive course to play.
The golf course has made significant improvements and is on its way back to being exceptional. It may take a few more years to reach its full potential, but they are definitely headed in the right direction! The staff is fantastic as well.

Staff was amazing and the back nine course is beautiful. 18th hole overlooks the water. It was a great first time experience and we will definitely be back! New ownership is definitely for the better!
I always enjoy playing golf here whenever I'm in Door County. The staff is incredibly friendly, and I appreciate the variety of courses that make each game enjoyable.
