I visited for the first time and decided to try a taste test between two nearby, well-rated pizza places. I placed a combo order for pickup from Al's and The Pizza Bakery, and both told me it would be a 20-minute wait. I noticed that Al's medium pizza is more like a large compared to the other, and it's a few dollars more expensive. Both places were friendly and had my pizza ready right on time. The only reason I wouldn't give a 5-star rating is the dining experience; the space is small and the parking isn't great. However, the pizza itself is excellent!
I lived in California for six years, and one of my biggest frustrations was finding a good cake. I had grown accustomed to the amazing pizzas from NYC and New Haven, and California just doesn't do it right. Tonight, I decided to take a chance and ordered from Al's, and I’m going to bed a very happy person. The only thing missing was that NYC water, but I've finally found a pizza that hits the spot. Thank you for rescuing me from the other pizzas out here!
We had two slices of the pepperoni pizza, which featured a thin and crispy crust. While it may not have been visually stunning, it was undeniably delicious! The flavor was spot on! The staff were incredibly friendly. During our first visit, we found ourselves enjoying this pizza more than some of the gourmet options in the neighborhood. We’ll definitely be returning!
AL is a genuine and incredibly friendly person. He visited during my first time dining here after years of being away. In the meantime, I have to say that the food and quality are FANTASTIC. I can personally vouch that his pizza is far superior to what's currently offered by other local places. I definitely plan on visiting the Big Apple Cafe many more times!

Three Great P’s Great People, Great Pizza, Great Place! Very nice family owned business, always friendly and make you feel welcomed and valued for spending your money there. Definitely check them out if you’re looking for good, authentic, NYC style pizza!
Very nice service. While I was waiting, the cashier offered me a drink. The pizza was fantastic, highly recommend! Get the number 4 which is the NYC style. They also sell by the slice which is awesome. The price Is definitely worth it.
Classic, comforting, and absolutely delicious. Al is a true gem, and his staff is top-notch. They all put in a tremendous effort to deliver high-quality food at a fantastic price. What more could you possibly want? Seriously!
Stop for a slice and it was super delicious! I have to take my friends in town the next time. If you move to this parking lot and go to the next door 7/11 for pizza, you are a fool. Your prices are also very good! I'm back.

Absolutely amazing! It's so close to NY Pizza, almost within arm's reach. The atmosphere is bright and cheerful, and the prices are incredibly reasonable!
The best pizza in OC. I always get a slice extra chrispy/ toasty while I wait for my order!! Been eating here since 1995!!!
