We stumbled upon Alte Bank by accident! We were wandering looking for a restaurant - any restaurant (though preferably German cuisine)! It was 7pm and we were hungry! - suitable for our family: two adults and two small children. We spotted a family with a small child in Alte Bank and decided to give it a try.We ordered what we consider to be basic German fare but were really impressed at the quality of our food. The entrees were delicious (and big!). We had schnitzel (perfectly crunchy!), pork tenderloin (nicely cooked with a delicious sauce) and spatzle (great texture, and so good with the sauce!). Our toddler ate from the kids menu (a huge serving of spaghetti and red sauce, which he loved...
At first glance it looks like a nice place to eat under the trees, but do not let this fool you. The first problem was getting a waitress to actually wait our table as they were all so busy looking at their toes. When she finally took our order in a rude manner, we first waited quite a while for our drinks, and after some time two thirds of our food arrived. We did not receive any forks or knives, and was left to wonder how Germans could eat hot food with melted cheese with their bare hands. We then reordered the missing food and went to get cutlery ourselves. When two of us were finished eating, the last dish arrived so that we were free to watch the third person eat. All we got was a force...
Atmosphere: based on what I was told, this was an old bank that has been converted into a cafe/restaurant. I loved the feel of it as you could see many of the old banks attributes worked into the interior.Staff: the staff was friendly and attentive. Our orders were correct and they were very polite.Food: I can only speak to the coffee and cake we had, which was very good. They had a much larger menu from which to select, but we decided on a lighter fair as we were walking through town.This will definitely be a place to check out during a future visit for a meal.
We were there only to eat a small meal before the theater next door opened. It seems to be quite popular but unfortunately was very loud, one had almost to shout to communicate. Unfortunately there was the no soap in the gents, but after my reclamation it was immediately refilled. The salad my wife had was one the worst that she has experienced, it seemed a leftover from midday - not very fresh, the waitress excused profusely and offered a free drink, but we only wanted a fresh salad.

the food is OK (but quantities far from the German standards), but the service is terrible: 45min to wait between the main course and the dessert in a half-empty restaurant, the waitress called 5 times without coming and then she asked to pay the bill before ordering the dessert while another waiter not doing anything at all... If you have an appointment, the worst idea you can have is to go to this place.
A very good experience! we went to this place in september, still being nice weather, so we enjoy the spots outside. The girls attending were very nice and ludic with children, the meals came fast, considerating that the place was full, and food was definitely delicious, although huge! don't even think to ask a plate for every child!!
This is not the first time I visit this place, they serve great and delicious food but the service speed is so poor!! They're attitude is awkward as well, like if they're testing customer's patience or something! But the dishes were really delicious and yummy!
Went upstairs and got a nice cosy table, good place for dinner and drinks, during the week, some good options for lunch time. The German food we order was fine maybe more dishes and snacks for visitors. Friendly staff.

Ate there on my last trip to the south of germany. Place looks nice but the service personell is so extremly rude, that you leave with a bad feeling after having lunch there. Not recommended
