All too often, bar/restaurants in this prosperous area of Germany are rather boring, un-atmospheric, modernish clones. This place stands out like a beacon. Its got a nice traditional decor, always seems busy, offers a good welcome and the food is really good. Its cooked personally...by the owner who also finds the time to circulate amongst the customers whilst his wife runs the drinks side of things from the central oval bar where customers also sight up elbow to elbow chatting, drinking and eating. There are frequent 'specials ' including wonderful mussels and excellent crispy duck, again foods not often found in your average Badische Kneipe (local pub). This place is easy to miss on Achern...
We were driving around and decided to stop here cos of the good reviews we read in TripAdvisor. And we loved it! We were 2 couples and a 6 year old girl. She loved the pasta they had as a child menu and when she...got a ring with lights and a lollipop as gifts, she was the happiest one! The ladies that served us were absolutely friendly and we got to meet Max, the Chef, who was also very nice. And yes, the food was great as well. We ate salads, burgers and some tapas and everything was tasty. The place is not so big, so better to make a reservation!
