We need to start with a consideration: Swiss bergrestaurants' are not known for the warm hospitality. It seems part of the mountain culture to be a little rude and grumpy. Even put it this way, you might not be fully prepared to stand the service of this restaurant, especially f you end up being served by their red-haired waitress. So if you are looking for gentle staff, forget about this place. It was our first time on Hasenmatt, the highest point in Kt. Solothurn. After a 15-minute hike and very hungry, we stopped at the Althüsli restaurant. The food was excellent, large portions, just real home-style Swiss country cuisine at extremely fair prices, as it should be. We were even offered to get some more, but we were full.
Had very, very fine roast pork with absolutely perfect fries and carrots. I can highly recommend : At the moment they are only open on Saturday and Sunday and the food is served until 6:00 p.m. I'm not sure if it's open on Fridays too. Better call first :
Don't expect a 5 star restaurant, the Althüsli is special: rustic, honest, cozy. I like it!
