1) Nice hotel, with sometimes very mixed food: a) The breakfast buffet is very extensive and excellent. b) Lunch in the “Gugelhupf” café fluctuates between ok and inedible. For example, a tomato soup or the sauce from Spaghetti Napoli tastes like curry ketchup. I have no idea which chef does something like that, but outside of a currywurst stand it 's a no-go. c) Dinner in the Panorama restaurant is good, but unfortunately only a menu and no buffet. Dinner in the “Am Kachelofen” restaurant is a buffet, but with a rather mediocre selection. Fantastic family friendly hotel. Incredible views, great facilities if you get a quiet week can book your treatments well before you turn up , excellent wine, good food albeit strong leaning towards lots of red meat the vegetarian food was nice, but could be more flavourful. We all felt looked after and the staff were so kind about kids making noise, which helped us relax from the moment we arrived. The dining room chairs were too heavy; we managed to smash a plate and a glass trying to manipulate them; there were parts of the decors that might benefit from modernisation, but it was so clean and well maintained that you couldn’t complain. A very nice hotel with great service, very friendly staff in every area. The hotel is in a quiet location just above the Schluchsee. Unfortunately you can't see the lake from the hotel. The lobby is very nice and you can relax with the Karussel Bar. Breakfast has a huge selection and is super tasty. The restaurant is beautifully designed. Cafe Gugelhuof is also very nice, really tasty and accessible from the pool. A huge selection of massages and beauty treatments. Pool made comfortable. Wellness area with 4 saunas, which have become very nice. With a steam bath and salt cave. The sauna area is textile-free. There is also a sauna area just for women. Great oasis of peace. Good, but uneven experience for one week here. Rooms had great view. Food, given the cost, was quite good, but no variety at breakfast. The service was at times very good and at times poor. (Eg, asking for a postcard being asked one euro after paying thousands for the stay) Service: 3

There just wasn't much for adults to do. The pools were always swarming with kids, spa treatments had to be booked days in advance, there was no concierge or maps/brochures for local activities. This ended up being a DIY holiday at an all-in-one-package price. Service: 2
