The restaurant was exceptionally clean, and the food was delicious. My husband and I stopped in on a Wednesday evening and received excellent service. We were promptly asked about any allergies or dietary preferences. All the dishes arrived quickly and fresh. We tried two appetizers and two main courses, all at very reasonable prices. Our favorites were the Palata with chicken and potato, the Burmese tea leaf salad, the coconut chicken noodle soup, and the Sanjeet noodles topped with shredded duck and garlic noodles.
I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. To start, two items were missing from my order. The chicken in the C1 Chicken Potato Curry was stale and rubbery, which was quite unappetizing. The Falooda had a piece of cake in it, which was a creative idea, but unfortunately, the cake was old and had a cardboard-like taste. I tried to overlook the cake and focus on the Falooda, but it ended up tasting terrible as well.
The staff and chef are incredibly accommodating and friendly, creating an atmosphere that feels like you are welcomed into their home. I can't praise the food enough. It's very rare to find Burmese cuisine in North Jersey, or anywhere for that matter, and if it's your first time trying this would be the place. The neck bone special is where it's at, it reminds me of a dish my mom makes.
Amayar Kitchen in Maywood, NJ, is a gem if you're looking to explore Burmese cuisine! Have you ever experienced Burmese food? It’s one of the few restaurants of its kind in New Jersey. The flavors are a delightful blend of Indian, Chinese, and Thai influences. I tried the pork curry, and it was absolutely delicious! Be sure to check them out on Instagram!
