I felt obliged to write this based on pubs reopening in the height of Covid-19. Most pubs in the area are taking little to none precautions and I have no idea why. Surely making your customers feel safe should be not only a priority but good for your business? Anyway, I've made two visits to the Anglesey Arms this week and staff were absolutely brilliant in socialy distancing customers, providing a sign-in book and hand sanitizer gel everywhere and they were constantly cleaning tables and chairs. What a great discovery! We have been trying out different places for Sunday roasts, and this pub is definitely the best so far. We received a lovely warm welcome upon entering, and the waitress was attentive and friendly. The roast lamb was incredible - so tender and succulent. The roast potatoes were perfectly crispy and flavorful. The vegetables and Yorkshire puddings were delicious as well. The roast was served hot, and to top it off, we were given extra gravy in a gravy boat - a nice touch we hadn't experienced elsewhere. We have heard such great things and having read the reviews we felt we had to try for ourselves. There is nothing we can fault, it was a proper home cooked meal. The choice of meat was lamb, beef and turkey along with a vegetarian option. The portion was huge with all the trimmings and the potatoes were amazing. Everything was piping hot and freshly made and the vegetables still had colour and crunch. Finally all the staff were lovely and welcoming. I wish we had tried it out sooner and we will definitely be back again.
We have visited this restaurant several times for their Sunday Roast and it never disappoints. The value for money is great and the portion sizes are generous. I even counted 10 roast potatoes on my plate last time! We always recommend this roast to others in the area, so if you're unsure, just give it a try. It's best to book ahead as it tends to get busy.
