"We got there about 5:45 thinking we'd beat the rush, wrong! But they put us at a table with a reserved sign and when the group came, they just went past us to the other end of the table. Food was okay but atmosphere was great. Beer kept flowing and the few waiters were able to keep up with the crowd."

Had dinner at Apfelwein Klaus on the recommendation of the Hilton Frankfurt City Centre for a close by casual place for dinner. It is a traditional apple cider basement cellar restaurant. Tables are large common tables that you share with other diners but as I had an early dinner at 7 pm, i had the whole table to myself as there were not more than a handful of diners that early on a summer Saturday night. I had the Frankfurter plate with roast rib loin, sausage, meatloaf, mashed potato and sauerkraut. The sausage and meatloaf were both pan fried to a nice crispy finish on the outside. The rib loin had a couple of chewy pieces but was still very good with a bit of mustard added. The sauerkraut is very sour indeed so I had trouble finishing it. The price was very low, service was good and quick and the food was generous in portion and good. Would recommend this for a casual dinner. Families are also well served as i saw a couple of families with children also enjoying an early dinner there.

We went with a group of 15 while on a business trip. The food was ok and the drinks plenty. It has a nice atmosphere but it is still pretty tourist aimed. Personally i'd expect a somewhat more traditional restaurant and i prefer a 'real' local(s) restaurant. We also got charged to much Apfle wein (2 liters extra..) probably due to the crowded service. But we had a good time and did not leave hungry :). I know of better places in frankfurt and that's why i'll rate it average. Its probably just not for me....

Wonderful German food. I had the sausage plate and my boyfriend had the spetzel. It was perfect. I also tried the apfelwein, which was very nice. The portions were huge. All in all it was the best meal we had on our 2 week trip! (It was very warm inside, the only thing I would have changed.) The ambience was great, lots of people out visiting with friends...and I noticed no one had their phones out, instead everyone was talking and having a good time.

Great food, they have all the basic German fare. It's funky to get too, you need to go down an alley and down stairs to old cellars. The journey is worth it. I can highly recommend the original Weiner schnitzel. Make and get a side of the sauerkraut. The apple strudel is a good way to finish your feast.
