Second visit to The Arnold Arms this year, a pub which had been a struggling concern for many years and now has become a part of a chain. Chain pubs usually mean business orientated and The Arnold is business first. Ambience ok but our meal was spoil by a bunch of farmers who had one too many shandy's. Starter was terrible, two ping pong balls of cauliflower deep fried, nasty! I liked the main course which was a salad, it is one meal that is impossible to get wrong. I would rate the pub as above average, i was not keen on the atmosphere or the environment, felt more like a restaurant than a pub, they are trying to hard to make money, not great value for money but ok and good for the village,...
Just had the most awful lunch here. We ordered a sharing ploughman’s lunch which consisted of: one pickled onion cut into four, two slices of ham, a few slices of thin apple, a tiny pot of pickle, four quarters of thinly sliced cheese and one tiny slice of bread cut into quarters. No butter for the bread or pork pie. The bread should have been crusty bread. All for £15.95!!! We also ordered a bowl of chips to go with it, they failed to arrive when they did they were undercooked so were sent back. If you go wrap up warm it was very chilly in the restaurant!
My mom and I stopped by The Arnold Arms today on our way home to Northampton. I can sincerely say that it is the best pub I have been to in a long time. I couldn't find a single fault - the food, cozy fires, atmosphere, and decor were all fantastic, but it was the staff that truly made our visit a delight. Every staff member we spoke to went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. If this pub were in Northampton, I would definitely be a regular as it surpasses all the pubs we have here. I was part of a 15 person group from the U3A Diners Group who enjoyed a fabulous Portugese meal at the Arnold Arms. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. It's been quite a while since I personally used this pub, so I was very impressed with the high quality of the decor. The landlord is a wonderful chap and we will certainly be back to try out another special menu night ... or even just the regular food ... and next time I'll try to get my partner to drive so that I can try one or two beers. Heard about this from a fellow dog walker so thought we'd give it a try..... Good food (we both had the ciabatta breads as a sandwich) one was steak and the other chicken bacon both cooked well. beer well kept, very friendly helpful staff. A cosy warm environment, very welcome on a chilly day for us and our dog. A bowl of chips were a tad pricey at £4.50 but rest of food was fairly priced. Looking forward to visiting them on their steak night on a Wednesday
Went with a group friends, which meant we were required to pre-order. We had a selection of mains, most had deserts. Everyone seemed happy with their food although several commented they expected their fish to be bigger portions. I had a J20, hunters chicken and a desert with custard, which came to just over £25. Have been at lunch time on a previous occasion which seemed better value.
First time here at the Arnold Arms came on recommendation, glad we did. Parking front and back, accessible toilet with radar key, no step access. Tables set apart nicely and good seating, bench and chairs. Great choice of food, well presented. Waiting staff pleasant and friendly. Prices fair for quality of food. Will be returning, thank you
