If your cruise includes Bilbao and you dock in Getxo or simple find yourself there, do yourself a favor and reserve a table at this gem. We were in Barcelona, San Sebastián, Getxo and Madrid and Borda was by far the best meal we had! We started with the most amazing and fresh tomato salad, followed by mashed potatoes with chanterelle mushrooms and a poached egg, fresh pan-seared anchovies (forgot to take a picture! , Guindilla peppers, a beautiful steak (that will give the best Florentine bistecca a run for its money paired with a simple salad, ending with a variety of amazing deserts and some port. Just amazing! And great wines as well! As a foodie who’s eaten his way through Italy and France, Borda’s formula of marrying a few high-quality ingredients is as good as you will get anywhere. You’ll definitely eat with both your eyes and your taste buds here! Not a place to miss!
Our group of 8 had the pleasure of a wonderful meal here in July. The staff could not have been more welcoming and both the food and wine exceeded expectations! Some highlights: the tomato salad a simple dish of beautiful tomatoes and olive oil was outstanding! The mushroom appetizer even those in our group who generally shy away from mushrooms couldn't stop raving about it. And the beautiful steaks need say no more! We had the pleasure of many delicious meals in Spain and this one rose to the top.
Whilst attending the European Rugby finals, we needed to entertain clients before the match, the suburb of Getxo yielded this gem, known to one of our group who lives there. Very traditional building, warm, comfortable and welcoming, the staff were lovely, attentive and proud, the food was superb, cooked to perfection, the wine complimented the meal, what a great surprise.
