Hidden Gem. Arguably (if not) one of the best West African food spots in South London. Diminutive unassuming off the main road and away from the madness, excellent parking in and around area very accessable. Where to begin... Food 10/10 Value 10/10 Service 10/10 Such wonderful custom and service, arrive early to get a table (busy after 7) definitely needs to relocate as this place just requires more space (seats) but defo not a negative as this is obviously on the cards from the footfall observed. Matchless West African custom, warm, attentive, just an intimate 'bistro ' feeling. And yes, patience is required! But once food is ordered as with any great restaurant the wait is worth it!!! from a busy crossing of brixton hill is this African restaurant. we could smell the food outside and it was pretty busy on a Sunday night. we sat down and began to look at the menu. to be honest, I think myself a food, but I really didn't know what the half of the ingredients were in the descriptions, even a short google helped me eventually went for banku and okro, which was a spicy kisser stew with okra cooked with a side by Jollof rice (the okra had broken up, the onepot made a little slender inside.) it had different pieces of meat. the taste of the stew was quite good...read more
I went here to buy local African food. The restaurant was packed- no social distancing here!! I waited to make my order which took a while as they were busy. There were two staff members there, one was really helpful and the other was not so. The food is affordable and not at the usual extortionate prices African restaurants charge for simple rice and stew. Would I go there again? Well yes! The only reason I gave it 4 stars was the service.
First time visiting London, and a friend suggested I try this spot out. I took the fam for their first time authentic West African food, they loved it. As someone who loves West African food this spot did not disappoint. Everything was delicious and fresh! I had jollof with the suya wings (omg the best wings ever), and the fam had jollof with Tilapia. Definitely added on my list of favorites for when I come back to visit .
Very nice welcoming, you can get some kind advice from the waitress. The food came fast and was delicious. You can have a few homemade and typical drinks from Ghana...not sure that you can have them every day! Anyway, my friends and I took some takeaway for the next day, to continue our trip in Ghana... Thanks Asafo for the moment.
Quality food! Just wish when you buy stews separately they would have more choice of sizes, because for £6.50 the containers are wayyyy smaller than other restaurants. They should think our having a £10 container which is much two sizes above what is seen in the photo.
