Being a great fan of world cuisine, went with some expectations. But the diner in Asmara scared me to try out authentic restaurants. Ambience: a place which does feel anything like having a good dining experience. The choice of music is so bad ( it Food : worst in the name of Ethiopian/ Eritrean food. They r trying to ensure that people who visit Asmara don't build any expectations from African food. Service : there aint a big team serving, so you can find only 1 old chap taking orders and being a bartender. Drinks: If you expect some hotel in Germany to serve beer mixed with water for 3,5€, please add this hotel to lost. Last but not the least, staff ( bartender + owner + steward ) will be highly unprofessional. Having everything said, the hotel in the end asked for payment in cash and not accepting card payments. I found it very bad.My ratings are towards 0 and did not find any good things to say about this hotel. An roadside imbiss is more better and serves ' atleast' hot food for a bill of 60€. PS: I was there with dinner vouchers
Asmara is an restaurant with Ethiopian and Eritrean food. I went there for lunch, neglected the buffet and ordered from the menu. An appetizer called ful which is a beans dish was served with a piece of wheat flatbread which was definitely not freshly-made. It tasted like several days old. The main dish was with beef and spinach served on and with injeera bread. This was okay, although it did not have the spicyness as promised on the menu. All in all: a reasonably good place, but for this cuisine I have visited much better restaurants, both in Germany and Los Angeles.
Geschäftlich zum Mittagstisch da. Buffet für 8.90 das Essen war ok.. mehr nicht. Wahrscheinlich zu diesem Preis auch nicht zu erwarten. Wenn überhaupt dann afrikanische Hausmannskost. Deko Afrika in alter Kneipe. Bedienung allerdings nett und aufmerksam. Es ist aber auch ein komisches Gefühl alleine in einer Gaststätte zu sein. Keine Wiederholung.
Tolles Ambiente aber noch besseres Essen. Ich war schon sehr viel in Afrika unterwegs, und wenn in Deutschland jemand die Afrikanische Küche anbietet ist man eher skeptisch, vor allem wenn der Wirt ein Deutscher ist. Ich wurde aber sehr sehr positiv überrascht und muss sagen dass ich auf jeden fall wieder kommen werde.
